whenever i used to ctruise the S-10 Forums they had one peice lights like GAs do, and they could put the shell in the oven and soften up the plastic, then kind of open it up and pull the amber out and reclose it for a clean clear look, anyone ever doen it with a GA?

i'm gonna go post on their forums and see if anyoen their has done the procedure then write it up here

I've done that before but it wasnt a newer GA's Lites they where off my 94'. But my 92 bonnei has those lites your saying and i went and removed the amber stuff out of them so i think i can Write up what i did!

Dusters way of taking apart your headlites!

Ingrediants
Oven mitts
BIG FLAT Blade screwdriver
Bakeing sheet
Your headlites

1) Take headlites off your car!

2) Heat oven to 375 Dont put the headlites in while heating the oven i did that and melted my headlite box! Not good times there! Had to visit midnight autoparts and pick up new ones!

3) Pop the healites in the oven like in the middle is good not to close to the top! Make sure there on a baking pan! Dont place them on the grills of the oven shelfs cause you could end up leaveing it longer in the oven to melt the glue and this could start to melt the plastic!

4) Let your headlites sit in the oven for 20 mins You can baste and roll them over every 5 mins:lol: just kidding But your headlites may take longer so make sure you stand and watch them and check the regularly! DONT LET THEM SIT LONGER THEN 15 MINS WITHOUT CHECKING THEM! Unless you want that melted headlite look  Once you believe the glues warmed up move on to the next step!

5) This is where the big Flat blade screw driver comes in handy! Take your screw driver and shimmy it into the crack where the headlite and plastic meet if the glue is letting go you'll know! The headlite will begin to seperate! And you'll hear this oozying kinda likea bone brakeing noise when you begin to seperate it! Dont try and seperate it all at once pop it back into the oven and repeat the step again! Do small sections of the lite at a time so the plastic doesnt end up bending or worse breaking!
TAKE YOUR TIME

6) If you do reach this step and have begun seperating headlites make sure the glue stays on the headlites or the box so its easier when it comes time to put them back together! The glue you notice on newer headlites like 00'-04' the glue is quite string dont let the glue TOUCH YOU, I cant stress this enough it burns like hell and if you have hair on your arms it sticks to it and burns more! So be careful! This stuffs hot!

7) Your headlites should be apart and you look in aww that you took them apart and you get to see the cool shiney stuff inside:lol: This where you do what ever you wanna do with your headlites to:D

8) Now If you do wanna put your headlites back together these are the things you'll need!

2 pillows or big coushy blankets! Or if your super strong you can use the oven mitts!

You warm your oven up like in step 2 and put both the headlite and box into the oven on a sheet like in step 3 (make sure the glue from the lite and box arent touching the cooking sheet), check if the glue gets mussy with your big screw driver poke at it occasionally and check! When you begin to see the headlite glue get sticky and looks like its ready to be reattached move on to the next step!

9) This should be setup up before you take the headlites out of the oven!
If useing pillows: put one pillow on a couch, floor where ever comfy! and take headlites out of the oven useing mitts mush them together while walking over to your pillow setup and put the headlite on the pillow throw other pillow over it and sit! Thats right sit your butt right on top of the pillows!

If useing blankys: same as pillow

If your heman and wanna use oven mitts: I dont support this one but ill explain if you dont wanna sit on some pillows! After you get the headlite and box out of the oven mush the together and squeeze them as hard as you can together if your strong enough you can squeeze them hard enough to get the same tight seal you would with the pillow technique!

10) This is where you shine your headlites up and throw them back on your car and stand back in aww at the job you just accomplished:D Job well done!

Almost forgot the legal stuff! Im not at fault if you melt, brake, bust, crack, or do somthing else to lites while fallowing my steps!

warning this method will not work for 99+ Grand Ams, the orange reflector is part of the lense, it is not glued, the two pieces are melted together, they do not come apart

yea, I think there've been a few people who melted their lights over on GAGT, but I'm not sure, I've only heard it through the guys girlfriends, uncles, pastors, doctors, hairdresser, paperboys, mom.

if you want clear 99+ headlights, buy some clear headlight covers(GTS or AVS,or something like that) and take apart your headlights and seal them back up with the clear covers in place of the stock lens.No amber piece anymore,or just get vinyl overlays for the amber

the only possible HARD part would trying to seal it up good enough so condensation doesn't get in there.....I just sealed up my custom 96-98 tailz early this morning, haven't driven the car at all today so I'll how well it got sealed the next rainny day.Used this stuff,Polyurathane sealer, dries like rubber, should work good.
Id prolly have done it already if I had the 99+ GA,can't stand the amber in anything.
