View Full Version : Power difference between ld2 and lgo
I have never owned a high ouput equiped car. Only lo's with 3spd auto. Im just curious of how much quicker are the ho's with the 5 spd than the los with 3spd. I know when i got my first quad car i thought it was the shit, was alot faster than anything i had driven before, especially with a 4 banger. Now im used too them and looking for something with alot more go. Do the HO's go alot better, or just a little?

The HO is quite a bit quicker, and I'd say much of that reason is the five speed. A friend of mine on the Quadfourm gained almost a full second in the 1/4 mile just by converting his '91 Calais Int'l to a five speed. Of course that depends on how good you are with a manual tranny...
My old '89 GA (LO, auto) ran the 1/4 mile in 16.5 seconds. I think most HOs run it in the mid-high 15s (in the '89-'91 body style). My friend's best time is a 15.1, but I'm not sure if that was before or after he put in the beefed up HO (he did the five-speed conversion first, and later put in a different engine because of money issues).

yea, even the 92-95 body style HO powred cars will run a mid to high 15s and the LOs can pull off mid to low 16s. you you probably would pick up a full second depending on the car, year, and condition considering from 1992-1994 the LGO lost about 10hp
You think a '91 would keep up with a northstar caddy?

It should with the HO and a 5-speed.
