I'm debating it, I know if I do white it'll get dirty alot easier, but, I'm going to get some extra tails and putin some semi lights

I just saved a lot of effort and traded my cracked cleared GT tails to a sucker for a set of SE's....here's mine:

How'd you do your tailights, I have a black SE, I was thinking about Nightshades over the whole taillight, but in PA I don't want to go totally illegal

I just masked them off with tape, and then sprayed them with black paint, it's not tint, it's paint, so just a little bit of light still shows through though

i told you why in my first post :) yeah, i wasn't about to buy new GT tails for $200 a pop, or whatever they cost, and my GT tails were cracked. so a guy offered to give me his SE tails...and you know what....i like them. that's all that matters :roll2:

it's not a requirement, but when you come into a thread about custom tails, and show some SE tails on a GT, you should expect flames, and dress accordingly

Blah blah blah, stop fighting. If I had a screwed up pair of GT tails, I would trade them for SE tails, too... now keeping them is a different story. I would just keep them on until I got myself a new set of GT tails.

Save time and money :: use wide electrical tape. And if you have a red, or white, or blue paint-job, buy the corresponding wide masking-tape and become a temporary flag!! ((or is that 'fag'?)) . Anyone tried emulating the Firebird honey-comb look?? And replacing the GA grill-insets with up-to-date "expanded" look plastics??

um, your in the "all show " section, everyone knows what there car looks like stock, no need to post picts, this web site would not be here or would have like 2 sections, regional and new news, i dont come on the site to look at stock cars, i can do that on my way to work! all these websites are supported because people come to see what can be done to there GA, and thats 98% of it! location to meet people and news of upcoming GM models contain the rest of the 2%... website cant live on that 2%! :owned: :loser:

Back to the TOPIC. I like those tails Dow. But you did those on regular GT tails right? Because I would probably have to clear the black stripes off of my SE's before I could do that. Am I correct? I wouldn't mind having a set like yours with silver. I've never seen that done before.

And for the other dude with a GT and SE tails, I see nothing wrong with SE tails. Most people will not even notice that they are not GT tails. I wouldn't have paid attention probably if you hadn't said so. I think it looks just fine.

they are stock SE tails that have the lines on them, since I painted them black adn the red is so dark you can't really tell that the black lines are still there

I think your tail-lights look amazing painted like that.

As for the guy with the GT getting the SE lights, more power to you.

If you think they look good, to **** with whoever doesn't agree; it's your car, not theirs.

I personally prefer the GT taillights, but if you got a good deal on the SE tails, that's good, I'd probably do the same if I were in a situation similar (after exhausting sources for GT tails)

maybe you already answered this, but I was curious whether you did any kind of clear coat on the tails? w/o clear coat, won't the paint eventually chip away?

yea I cleared 'em, otherwise they would chip, horribly, make sure theres atleast 3 coats of clear on it, since it's an ouside piece

Not sure why I just don't like the ending result but I like the concept. There just has to be another way to do it. I think I can see the lines where it was taped.

I don't know why but I think the SE tails look pretty good on the silver GT.
