Basics: 2000 Grand Am SE 82,000 miles.

About 3 weeks ago my car stated to have a rough idle (jumping between 5-700 rpms) and the car would shake at idle. Then upon accleration the car would studder, then the check engine light
would flash and then go off. This went on for a few days and then the check engine light stayed constant. The car contined to have a rough idle, that was getting worse and would hesitate and struggle to get up to highway speeds.

Went to Autozone, scanned my cars computer, getting missfire on cylinder 1 and 6. Took the car to precision tune in Raleigh, NC.
I had all the plugs replaced (the old ones were from the factory) and installed new wires, well $215 later it ran alright for about 1/2 day then back to the poor idle and the check engine light came back on.

Next I had precision tune do a through fuel injector cleaning (they didnt charge me for this service), and it ran fine for about a day then the rough idle, poor accleration and the steady check engine light returned. They now are saying I should replace the fuel injector for cylinder #1 (computer is still stating clyinder 1 misfire), tested all the plugs and cables, they all tested fine.

How much does/should a fuel injector replacement cost?
Any thing else I should do first?
Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

It could be one of you coil packs going back one coil packs effects 2 cylinders. (not sure which are together.) You can also just adding injector cleaner from an auto parts store see if that works. If that doesn't work you can get them professionally clean from a mechanic. I think that would be cheaper then buying a new injectors and at 80k they should not be going out yet probably just dirty.

btw about injectors they very RARELY need to be replaced they just get dirty and alot of people replace em.. all you do is like DMAN said get them professionally cleaned... i did... smoothed it out alot

did you have em cleaned while in the engine or did you have em removed... because for the cost of you removing them and sending them to the store to have them flow tested and professionally cleaned to match flow results within 1 cc will clear it up if that is the prob... because just replacing them will cost 2 x more than what i just said.. Also from what i said will tell which one was acting up if any... would be cheaper to do that if they werent your prob...
