Is there a programmer like the Hypertech or anything to change the shifting point's etc of a 97 GASE 4 speed Auto tranny? I would like to raise the upshift's a bit and firm them if I can.
Thx for any help

No. The 96-98 GA's are in this vaccuum of performance parts, especially computer programming. There is the Autotrans Interceptor, which will increase line pressure, and IIRC, a few on the board here have it.

Why do you want to up the shift points anyways there are perfect where they are.

Well, For starter's, I can't get to redline, it shift's at just over 5000, 6000 appears to be my redline onthe tach. Second, I seem to have to make alot of accelerator pedal movement before it backshift's. Most of the time, almost to the floor, then it double shift's bach into 2nd, then to 3rd where it should have been shifting to initially. My daily drive includes a twisty canyon road to work, but maybe I am expecting to much. Shoulda got a 5 speed maybe????

... you got to remember though that even if you were able to rev above 5000, it might be useless anyway since the power level would have dropped off to nothing ... my suggestion is to just leave it alone :)

I know on mine,it will shift at 6000 or 6500 if you get on it,but it shouldn't be shifting that high for daily driving,no need to shift higher. If you don't like the way its shifting try keeping it in 3d.Ive noticed a little better shifting only because overdrive(or D) doesn't kick in or downshift.

my 2.4 auto will shift at the redline, or right before it. no real need i can see right now to change that.

:agree: I love the car I have.I love the engine and the tranny, but it could be an actual geared tranny instead of vaccumed.(that might be wrong, not exactly sure about the tranny, haven't really been focused on it)

Boy, alot of help this is, everyone is just nitpicking. There car this, there car that, well, I don't own THERE CAR. If I want to change my shift point's, there must be a reason, there not "perfect where they are."

Oh, and if you would notice via my sig, I have a 3100 also, not a 2.4 twin cam

What do you expect to gain by changing the stock shift points? If you want just get a TPS Enhanser that will give you a quicker downshift. We are not nitpicking there is no reason to change the shift points.

and there is not way to in the first place.

well, only one thing i would change about my tranny, thats a rebuild. it needs it. and maybe a better torque converter.
