I was rear-ended last year and the car was fixed and I've had many mechanics tell me that the body shop did an excellent job on it. The car is falling apart again, anything except the frame that was fixed in the past is falling apart. The doors, rear windows, rear bumper, etc. plus other annoying things. I hope I can get rid of this car soon and get me a different car, and it's really a shame because it's a beautiful '01 GT Sedan. It just makes me mad that GA's aren't durable enough to last a wreck and be durable in a wreck. I guess those safety ratings even if they are frontal are true from the NHTSA & Insurance Institute when they rate the Grand Am a 1-star in the side, and POOR overall frontal score.

I swear by GA's since my accident. I was hit in the rear by a little chick driving daddy's nissan altima. I only heard her hit the breaks for an instant before hitting me. I was stopped in morn rush hour traffic. She slammed into me doing 65. Pushed me into the Lincoln in front of me. The whole car kind of buckled in the center so the doors stuck up above the top of the car about an inch. Her car was totalled. The engine was lower than my kneecaps (and I'm only 5'6"). The lincoln in front had her bumper crumpled. And my steering wheel was pretzeled. But amazingly I drove away and drove it for another two weeks before trading it. I think what saved me is when she hit it kind of scooped me up and she went under me. I could tell since the guard over the gas tank was scraped. But the trunk was a mess.
