Well, my quad is acting up... imagine that.
It has a misfire at idle and when you give it alot of gas quickly, or give it steady gas up to 3/4 throtlle then it does it there too. Usually if i punch it it does it for 1/4 second then runs right. The misfire isnt like hesitation, its more like the motor starts running on 2 or 3 cyl. instead of all 4. I started messing with things, unplugging this, tweaking that, hitting this, and whatnot. I eventually came to the conclusion that the Throttle Position Sensor was faulty so i bought a new one and put it on. No better, although it seems too misfire at times when it used to not and misfire where it hadnt before. (hope you caught all that). Im not getting an SES Light, nor will my 'puter give me any codes. So what do i do now? Replace the o2/map/and every other sensor? lol. Im stumped!!

The same problems happened to me. You need to check the coil tower and boots that go to the plugs. You'll probably see small burn trails going to each little points to the boot. The metal inserts that distribute the power from the coils are weak. You might think that this problem would be continious at any idle or rev, THINK AGAIN. I was having the same problems for about a month and finally realized. Even talk with any counter guy at a auto parts store. Thats most likely the problem. You can get the tower and boots for about $75 new or Ebay sells these things like crazy, and cheap. Check it out.

I have an extra Coil Cover, ill try it tomarrow and see if that helps. I also have some old plug boots that i replaced just for the hell of it, ill have to swap those over and see what happens. I really hope this fixes it. I dont want to do the buy a part and see if it works thing, the cars just not worth it. But i guess being a quad lover and all my next car will have a quad4 so i can just swap the new parts over :D

Check the cover, then the plugs and the gap of the plugs.

Next does the motor run fine when it's cold, then start acting up after 15 or more minutes of driving. Dieing coils will work fine when they are cold and then start to fail after they warm up.

Kind of sounds like a intermittent coil/spark problem.

Have you pulled the IACV to check it for carbon build up?

Well i put on the extra coil cover and coils last night and it runs great now. I dont know whether it was the coils or the cover, but im assuming its the cover since the coils look new, but im not about to take it apart again to find out :) Thanks everyone for there help. I really never thought that coils or that cover would cause a problem like that, i figured they would work or not work.

Hmmm...here I'm thinking I've read this before, when I realize that I just read this in the Quadfourm daily digest! Glad you fixed it - coils can be very intermittent when they are bad...
