I've had my deck hooked up for a while now and i replaced the back 6x9's with infinity reference. I've had no problems with anything but the sound coming from my speakers sounds dampened. I would think that aftermarket speakers would put out a little bass along with the door speakers but theres nothing really. My deck is an alpine. It's about 2 years old and is a 60x4 watt output. My question is that when i was wiring it, i hooked the power antenna from the deck to the power antenna from the stock harness. When i did this on my girlfriends car, her speakers sounded like $hit so i hooked the power antenna up to the battery wire and problem solved. I just want to know if I do the same thing, will i get the same result? I don't want to try it and burn up my cd player. Thanks

if you dont have a power antenna then why would you hook up a wire for it??? just leave it unhooked but tape it off.

ok well the thing is just because your deck is 60x4.. and ya that is a good power rating ... and by getting new aftermarket speakers dont mean its gonna better... as in bass and so on.. see the problem would be the speakers wont deliver the proper bass that they are designed... because let me guess rated at like 220 or 240 watts... so bassically your speakers arent even close to thier potential ... so your only gonna hear treeble

Just because a speaker says it has more watts than the next dont mean its louder.. generally its the opposite since it requires more to run...

One key thing to look for if your not gonna amp them is the S/N ratio and dont buy anything like 88db... you wont hear much from em... higher the S/N ratio the louder it will be with lower power.. but generally that means its max power will be lower.. but in your case since your running off the deck.. that is what you want....

So to say just because its aftermarket dont mean its gonna sound better.. maybe just clearer.. but you have a good chance of getting no bass.. unless they are amped...

No matter what a deck says it has for power output, it is not going to be more than 10-15 watts rms. Physically impossible, E.G. Compare the size of a 50 watt (rms) x 4 amplifier to the size of your deck. (This amp will be huge compared to your deck) The amp is large because of the circuitry that is required to pump that much wattage to speakers. All that circuitry cannot fit in a normal-sized deck.

In short, your speakers are WAY underpowered. They need an amplifier to sound better at higher volumes.

I've got a 200 watt clarion that I'm going to run to them. Thanks for the input.
