I have a 95 grand am with the 2.3 dohc and it bit the dust. My buddies at my local junkyard gave me a totaled 96 GA with a 3100(thats right gave it away) and I have commenced to swapping and I would like to say this is the easiest swap a human can do. Disconnect the wiring at the firewall's, the ecm wiring under the dash is easy to get to, disconnect the a/c and its wire, the antilock brake sensor thingys(whatever) at the spindles, and any thing that runs to the frame or firewall and pull your engines wiring and all. The mounts are easily swapped, the shift linkage must be removed from the tranny bracket, but is the correct length to be installed on the V6 tranny bracket and is fully functional. The only swap beside engine, tranny, wiring, ecm, and mounts was the cruise control unit(because I don't know how to change the cable itself), the throttle cable, and A/C compressor. Just a little FYI for someone looking to modify there 4 banger the right way. Its an easy swap.:D Hope this helps you newbies who want more power~maybe this post will be sticky one day!

It will run just the same as it did in the 96 chassis, its all plug and play:)

Nope not as easily as it has worked for me. It will need custom wiring at the driver side bulkhead and custom fabbed and welded mounts to be done in a 92 chassis I'm sure.

I'd just swap in a 2.3HO... not much more trouble and much more power....

if any of you have a 1995 2.3 w/ a 5spd.. you can convert to HO specs rather easily.
mantapart has a chip for the 1995 ecu, than all you would really need to finish it is..
2.3HO head, HO cams, HO exhaust and intake manifolds, HO crank pulley................... wham bam thank you ma'm...
or just drop in 2.3HO in replacement of the 2.3LO :D
Isnt it funny how everyone thinks bigger is always better...

bigger is better... it's a grand am forum..
don't you know a 2.0 honda motor could NEVER get anything less than 15 second 1/4 mile...
