You'll see a bit more throttle response and a small power increase . This mod is good IF you plan on more upgrades to the engine . On a stock engine you would be better off with a CAI or Cat back exhaust first . ;)

I was thinking the same thing...
suppose it wouldnt be worth it then to get a TB and a CAI.... together.
I dont want to get exhaust, too much money for me at the moment and my parents wont let me spend me that much money on my car at the moment, considering i have university to pay for next year...
would the stock exhaust still handle the increased air flow well? (I have a 99 SE...)
(sorry for jacking the thread)

Forget about the TB and just get a CAI . Then do the exhaust later . Worry about TB when you mod the engine ... if you got the $$ .

i already have a "ghetto intake" as my friends and i have come to call it: a filter from auto zone to replace my air box. i doubt its doing anything performance wise, but it still sounds pretty cool. and i plan on doing exaust next. so do i absolutely have to do engine mods to get the best results from the tb

Go for the intake first then get exhaust then go TB AND ported Intake manifold.RSM Racing sells them both and together you can expect some gains....I have exhaust and intake and my next thing is a ported TB and intake manifold from RSM.

The intake manifold from RSM isn't worth the cash. No offense to them but all it is, is a stock intake mani that has been ported to fit the 62mm tb. You would be better off getting the 62mm tb and having a local machine shop port the manifold to fit.
the manifold and tb are secondary to the intake and exhaust.
Here, here is a picture. A slight exageration
--------______
<----- air is going that way
______---------
If there isn't the room for it before the tb it will only make a little bit more room. If its like this
----------------
----------------
That flows much better...
Wow that was fun I hope that makes sense

very helpful on TB porting. I found this back when I had my Satty.

self made WAI (as seen in my cardomain) = nice gain, al-be-it small gain. then added muffler = again, nice but rather small gain. then added RSM 62MM TB and did notice nice gain.

I did the DS CAI first and it was fine gave it a nice sound at around 4000rpm. I know how the money situation is but when you get the money go with the SLP cat-back system. I have the borla and love it but the SLP is louder, cheaper, and will give your car a nice sound too.....good luck

i must admit, once again as i done before in here, that the "fart-can" muffler, yes it really was a muffler, not a cheezy tip, did give it a nice sound, pretty deep too.

Yay, somebody knows how to get more power (even a little)out of a 4-banger!:)
Gotta disown the ricers "the chromed coffee can (thanks Grandma!) on my Civic give me 20 HP":roll2: :bsmeter:

20? not a chance, maybe 2-5 if lucky. its more for the sound and look. now, if he was talking about a full exhaust, cat and header included, then maybe.
