Hey, im gettin a bit of a problem here with either my deck, or my burnt cd's. First things first. For some reason, my deck doesnt seem to be reading a few of my cd's too well. When tried on a diskman or home theatre, they work fine, but sometimes they dont work well on my deck, kinda like they skip but there is no scratches. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to clean the deck becasue thats probably part of the problem. Second, what kind of cd's do you guys use. I find that for many of mine, especially the ones I play the most, the top cover layer, the layer you can write on, seems to flake off and thus skips the cd's. Any ideas?

I think the laser might be getting a little dirty or out of alignment. My old deck was like that. I had to take it out and have the place where I bought it have it fixed.

As for CD's, I always use TDK. Never had a problem with them and they seem to last longer than any other ones I've had before.

well ya as said by nicegt96 your lens could be dirty.. but also your laser might not be all that strong .. so for me i use the el cheep o' discs and they work fine.. but they will skip if i have a minor scratch in it... bassically its heavily recomended to burn audio cd's at least for your car on the slowest speed you can.. at least the speed of the disc or slowest the burner goes... i did this and improved the durability and plays better...

As for the scratching... if you are labeling em.. make sure you use a felt pen.. not a pen or pencil or it will scratch..

Yea, I use a felt pen. Shiat though, I really dont wanna have to take out the deck just to clean it. Meh, I guess I'll see what happens, that and buy some higher quality disc's for my car, the ones I have might be too cheap to last long with all the heat. Thx for the input.

you can get a lend cleaner that is just basically a cd that goes in and has bristles on it that swipe the lens and clean it... you can get the kit at any car audio place.

I've heard of those lens cleaners... I used to use them, but I heard they do some damage to the lense, sctratching it up and such. But that is just what I heard, In no way am I suporting that idea.

Anyhow... When xmas comes this year, wait for CircuitCity to have sales. They always have their cd's on sale. 100pack for 10 bucks after rebate. Its a $55 pack, but you get a $45 rebate. I swear. 10c a piece for a cd isnt bad at all. I only have about 13 left since 2 xmas' ago. "Memorex 700mb/80min"

NEVER use the CD lends CLEANERS. Hehe sorry, but I worked in electronics and you find out very quickly that that is NOT something you do. It will scratch as well as move the lens in some cases. Oh, btw, the Memorex 700mb/80min are the same ones I have. hmm... Interesting.
