I wasn't sure if i wanted a sub, but my 6x9's haven't been cutting it. I don't want anything abnoxious, just more depth. I'm thinking about sticking with pioneer. They have a 760watt 1,2,3 channel amp that is in my price range.here (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4055_77659839,00.html)
Also they have a 10 in that is in my range. here (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4059_66349981,00.html)
Would this sound good. I would probably have to dynamat my trunk, I am totaly anal about rattles. I don't want something that is going to be so annoying that everyone heres it when i drive by. Also, i don't want it to take up my entire trunk. I could possibly put the amp in the spare tire well. would it be hard to contour a box to the side of the trunk? Should i go with ported or sealed. Before someone says use the search, i have been for the past hour. All i saw were big boxes sitting in the middle of the trunk and really expensive custom installs. If these are my only options, i might just add an amp to my rear speakers.

i would try to add am amp to the rear speaker first that might do it for you. I know some people still want more but sounds like thats all you will need.
Buy the amp, amp your rear 6x9's and see how you like it, if that still doesnt cover it, then go for it and get the sub then at least you have the amp already :) you may find it enough with just the amp ont he speakers, course, im actually at th epoint i might ditchthe sub and reamp my rears, cause they were enough I am not listening to music as loud as i used to these days ;) must be getting older

adding an amp to your rear speakers will help, but i think you want more. since you're going with a relatively small amp and sub i would hold off on the dynamat until you hear how bad the rattles really are. they might not be that bad.
it wouldn't be very hard to make a "custom" box that is small. since you're not wanting alot of bass a small box would probably come closer to fitting your needs than a big box would anyway. the bigger the box the bigger the bass, in general.
ported or sealed? again, you're not wanting ground shaking bass.....sealed should fit your wants just fine. a ported box is generally bigger anyways. and since you're wanting it to be kind of small and kind of custom built a custom ported box would be expensive, and one that small wouldn't sound very good anyway more than likely.
that sub and amp go real good together. the sub only take 350 watts and the amp puts out 380....so that works out pretty good. and the sub only requires a 1.0 cu.ft. enclosure....that's a pretty small box. although im not a fan of pioneer stuff, i think you'd probably be happy with that amp/sub combo.

would that amp be too much for my rear speakers. Mine were discontinued but these have the same specs. here (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4069_35264_tab=B,00.html?compName=PNA_Prod uctDetailComponent)

if that setup is installed correctly in the right box it'll sound great, i actually saw that exact setup in a CRX beat my truck at a db drag, the owner of it also owns all the audio shops here and he spent a lot of time configuring the positioning of everything and he hit 142db on the new termpro mic, and that's really impressive

If you're going to just have one 10 in. don't worry about dynamat becuase the rattles really shouldnt be to bad. Also, if you do decide to matt ur trunk, use fat mat or another brand. Dynamat is so damn over priced!

yeah, i just find little noises to be rather annoying. In fact, the most road noise i hear in my car comes from the rear so dynamat would probably help there too. I saw another brand that was nearly 1/5 the price of dynamat.
