Newbie question

my 97 Grand Am got broken into (vandalized) and my stereo trashed (punks couldnt get it out so they made sure i couldnt use it either) so now im in the market for a new stereo. my question is will a standard double din stereo fit in the opening for a 97 GA or am i stuck with a regular sized stereo with a install kit.

any advise would be appreciated.

the 97's actually use a din and half sized factory headunit...a little smaller then double din.

A few manufacturers make din and a half headunits so you can go that route, OR you can easily put in a Din sized headunit by using a dash kit.

For DIN headunit, you will need the following parts (metra part #'s)

99 3320: Dash kit
70 1885: harness (80 1858 if purchased from Circuit City)
40 GM 10: Antenna adaptor

Approximately $40-$50 in parts
