hi all. ill be honest, ive trolled on the boards for awhile, but finnally decided to register and post! anways..

my 93 SE [145k miles; 2.3L Quad] is eating coolant like a mother >>> at this point. about a year and a half ago [13k] miles; i had the head gasket replaced when she started eating coolant. then come july i got the famous LOW COOLANT ding on the dash, the resevoir was damn near dry. filled it up. no problems for a week. then DING again. filled again. 2 days later. DING filled again [nearly half gallon each time]. then it stopped.

come this past week, DING. here she comes again. shes eating about a pint every other day [with about 40 miles per day on it]. after doing the visual, ive got no external leakage around the block, nothing dripps down underneat, no overflows from resevoir, and oil appears fine, no foam, normal color after 2 months, no grit to it. we did see some white vapor from the exhaust, but not alot... however, more than there should be for a 60 degree day. my question is what else can this be?

im seriously hoping its not another head gasket, ive got no other faults or power failures, and again with the leak being internal in nature; its frustrating as all hell to trouble shoot. anyone have any ideas? shes shop bound on thursday, thats the soonest i can get it in; hoping to baby her along until then.... im asking for a full compression test; and our trusted mechanic [over the phone] is at a loss, says hes never had one come back this quick for another head gasket. im wondering if weve got something else going on, thoughts from all you with more knowledge than i have???

What about heater core? Any coolant smell with heat on? Is the interior floor dry? Any coolant coming out from the A/C condensation drain spout?

If not, and there's no other external leakage, I'm thinking head gasket again.... tho you would prolly see more white smoke if it eats that much coolant.
