anybody ever try this? i'm 95% sure this will work, i've done ALOT of research on this. i know i need the head and everything up, and the timing assembly. just wondering if anyone has ventured down this road.
all the sensors are the same, the head gasket is the same, intake and exhaust are, block, pistons. the ECU (p/n 16191947) will run the vin 3 and vin A (HO)?! can't quite figure that one out. i'm just going to go with the vin D stuff right now, there's no sense in putting on a HO head w/out the 10:1 pistons. the clutch assy is different, but i'm assuming that is HP related (115 vs. 155). its not too much work for 40 HP/10 TQ.
some of the research i've done:
cross reference p/n's at Rock Auto (http://www.rockauto.com)
Superstreet - Quad Mods (http://www.superstreetonline.com/techarticles/16138/)
Rebuilding The GM Quad 4, Doug Anderson, Automotive Rebuilder, April 1999 (http://www.babcox.com/editorial/ar/ar49935.htm)
-and alot more i can't think of off the top of my head.
if anybody has any input, i'd appreciate it. going to start gathering up parts pretty soon.
thanks,
