Okay i want to do a turbo setup on my grand am, wondering what you guys would recommend, this will be one of them home made turbo project setup things that im doing the cheap way. I was thinking of doing twins because im pretty sure that i have 2 exhause manifolds on the V6, but i'm not sure, if i am going to do turbo i will be boosting 2-3 psi on twins, 4-6 on a single, what parts should i replace in order to boost in my car? 99 GASE 3.4 v6

your wanting a twin turbo setup on a GA? have fun doing that on your own...Yes Im sure it can be done, better start saving now...But for a single turbo,oh hell yes it can be done, easier then a twin setup. Im not up on all the turbo's out there, but IMO id go with a Garrett T3/T4 turbo and of course and intercooler(it does help with power) piping for it will of course will be custom made. You really wouldn't have to change any stock stuff like your tranny but Im pretty sure after a few years you'll end up replacing it since the stock GA tranny isn't built for the power that your wanting, well depending on the psi, which will increase horsepower,I think the most Ive see or heard someone running on a GA was possibly 9? 12 at the most, any higher then that then your looking to redo all internal parts,pistons,manifold,etc...Unless you have worked on engines b4(don't know if you have or not) then you better start reading up and getting the right tools or your not going to have a running car for a while, unless you have another car to use while working on this one.

So true man. Save up a ton of money because a TT setup will cost you a fortune considering all the custom work.

Huh???? Take a look at the authors profile, its says 3400 V6.
Anyhow, turbos. 2 Garrett T25's will be good, at like, 4 psi each.

Going to be a lot of cash for a twin turbo set up. You could always run 1 small or medium turbo. All twins are for is so the smaller turbo charges faster and gives you boost as the other one is charging to give you boost and by the time the first one is finishing its boost the 2nd larger one is boosting. If that makes any since to you. I think im right correct me if im wrong.Or you could always run a SC/TC set up so you have a constant boost of power. Its going to be a hard set up because the exhaust mani is by the fire wall so lots of custom work will be needed.

its easier to get a new engine with a turbo.. and probably cheaper too

from one 17 year old to another, don't even start thinking of a project like a TT setup yet, how much do you know about the car? I'm not saying it can't be done, but if you look at the money and expertise you probably don't have it's going to be alot of hard times when things don't work, I don't know how much car experience you have, probably not much since you only "think" you have 2 exhaust manifolds on a V6.

to be honest i know a good bit about my car, and who ever told me to learn about my car more refering to the 2 exhaust manifolds maybe you should learn about yours first, 3.4L V6 DO have 2 exhaust manifolds, i have looked into doing a single turbo set up with custom piping, i work at 2 car shops and i can have most of the work done there, just because im 17 doesnt mean jack, yes i do have money, i work 3 jobs. 2ndly i was just asking for input, thanks to those who did, i have been looking at the t3/t4s but im still debating it, im going to go with a dsm setup intercooler and have the piping rewelded, i can get the ic from a junk yard for 25-40 dollars, i'll keep you guys posted as i go along with the project
