As some of you may remember, I just bought Infinity Kappas, both 6x9s and 4". It took me forever to get the 6x9s to fit, but i finally got them in. But when i fired them up, I only get the low frequencies out.

Heres my setup and heres what im thinking:
The speakers are hooked up to my amp that i use to power my subs. The signal going to the amp is from the back of the HU using the RCA wires going to the low input on the amp. I have the x-over on the amp set to FULL, which im assuming allows all frequencies to pass. The speakers also came with x-overs that cannot be adjusted. Here is what i think is the problem, but im not sure. I think that the RCA wires coming from the HU are only sending the low signals to the amp, which in turn are sending to the speakers. Is this true? If so, how do I hook up the amp so that all ranges of frequencies pass?

your RCA's will send the full band of frequencies from the headunit unless you have them hooked up in a way that only the low's will go out (i.e. low pass output)

are you sure you have the right x-over on the amp adjusted? some amps have a x-over for OUTPUT as well as input. and if the speakers came with crossovers do you have them hooked up right?

Im positive that i have the x-over for the speakers hooked up right. If i had the RCA's hooked up for only low pass output, how would I know?

Go through the function settings on your HU and look for "Low-Pass" filter settings. I suspect you have the HU's internal low pass filter on.

ok heres an update.

The back of my HU has 4 sets of RCA input/outputs. 1 set I believe is just for a low output (which was my problem before).
Another set is the front output. When i hooked my amp to that output, both the fronts and my new rears worked. And when i turned the fader to the rear, no sound out of either speakers was heard. But when i turned the fader to the front, the sound barely changed if at all. That is why i think that is the front output. Now, there are 2 sets left. One is green and one is red. I hooked the amp to the red one, and the fronts worked, but all i heard front the rear was an occasional pop and crackle.
Now the green was crazy. I hooked the amp to the green rcas, turned on the radio and the rears were BLASTING! I quickly turned the volume knob down, but it had absoloutly NO EFFECT on the volume whatsoever. Im almost positive that one of the remaining two sets (red and green) have to be the aux input.
Does anyone know whats going on?

1 set is for front and one for rear, it sounds like the x-over isn't set right, make sure the x-over knob is tuned right, then make sure it is set to HP or AP to make it high-pass or all-pass

What x-over are you talking about? Theres one on the HU, the amp, and the speakers. THe one on the speakers cant be set. And frankly, I dont think it has a damn thing to do with the x-over, unless theres a setting called "no-pass" because thats what im getting, either nothing at all or full blast without volume control.

Set the amp xover to full ... and generally set the rca's on the rears.. is for the amp But what are you using a 4 channel amp? 2 channel? 3 channel? and how do you have it wired... but it sounds like you should have the rear rca's set the amp to full x-over or High pass and as for the deck.. setting the fade to front will lower all volumes on the amp so basically have it set to 0 the whole time...

Well im using a 2 channel amp. I have my amp wired so that it works......im not sure what you want there.

Omfg dude clean up that post.

What brand HU are you using?

The full-blast with no volume control is feedback from being plugged into the wrong RCA ports---don't try that again (as I am sure you figured out) as it can blow your speakers very easily.

I know Pioneer decks have more "function" controls that can only be accessed when the HU is turned OFF....these are accessed by pressing and holding the 'audio' or 'funtion' buttons while the HU is off. In these settings there is an option for switching the REAR RCA outputs from full-range, internal control (HU x-over), or external control (amplifier x-over). I believe this is the setting that is messing with you right now.

I have a Clarion dxz635mp. I cant find my manual for the HU, but ill try messing with stuff when the stereo is off.

BTW, thank you for responding, I cant seem to get a logical answer, or any at all, out of anyone lately.
