What is the condition of your crank? New? Polished? Cut undersize? Depending on the condition in may need to be cut to be sure.
The main culprit in rod bearing failure is lack of lubrication. Make sure you're using a good (not too much) amount of assembly lube. Also, before actually starting the engine, crank it over maybe three times...10 seconds each...to prime the oil feeds.
If you did a complete rebuild and didn't prelube/prime the oil pump during assembly, then fired the engine right up, you'd be running dry for several seconds.
Also, make sure the torque specs for the rod bolts are followed closely and don't reuse the rod bolts.
Just found out today that Mantapart can no longer get the Kamax 12.9k rod bolts. Have to source them from Germany or Europe. Stock bolts are still available from GM, they're less than $5 each here.
P.S. Sounds crazy but make sure the bearings were installed properly...with the oil holes over the feed tubes. To be extra sure, you should have the rods checked for roundness and recut if necessary...unless you're using new rods.

That's why I do everything except machine work myself. It's too tough to find an honest mechanic that knows what they're doing. Even harder to afford the outrageous labor costs.

all the extra work he is haveing to do is labour free work cause i am not giveing him a dime for any work done to the motor it should have been done the first time

yea, just got around to reading this post, im kinda behind. im wondering what cylinder is spining a bearing? shortly after i bought my car at 114000 miles, mine spun the #1 cylinder bearing. im thinking this is a issue we will have to adress with somthing other than stock parts. have you got yours fixed yet?

I tore into my engine today. Haven't got the bottom end apart yet but it's obvious the #3 rod bearing is shot. It's the only piston/rod with any vertical play.
If you spun all four bearings, it sounds like your mechanig didn't have your crank machined, just slapped in some new bearings and hoped it worked.
I've already replaced the stock bearings that came in my new shortblock. Put in Clevite-77 tri-metal bearings. Also have a new Melling oil pump and Speedpro pistons. Right now I'm cleaning things up, repainting, and slapping them on the new block.

i wish i had time to tear my motor apart and clean up everything wen i look under the hood and see chiped paint or a little oil or dirt i wana just clean it but some places just 2 hard to clean and its next to impossible to paint anything still on the motor and in the car .
if i had a second car id have the whole engine bay looking brand new.
