Ok before you say anything. I am very cheap at this point so I bought me a set of 3 dollar neon lights DOH Well it has a cigarette lighter hook up is there a way I can mount a switch and hook this thing directly up to the battery instead. I think it actually looked good hooked up under the dash.

Cut the cig lighter thing off. Then, wire a wire from your battery, to the positive end on the neon. Put a switch on that wire. Then take the ground wire and find a nice ground and ground it there. If you are worried about blowing the neons, you could put an inline fuse, but at 3 bucks, buying a 3 dollar inline fuse might be a waste. Hope that helps.

Some neons have a transformer on the cigarette lighter end. If so, you can't cut it off.

If you can cut it off, be very careful to observe the correct polarity. Reverse polarity will smoke the transformer in an instant.

Where did you find $3 neons? i thought I was doing good with $7 units.

If you have any further questions, like how or where to mount them or install them, dont be afraid to ask. I have a bit of experience with them with 3 installs and I know good places to mount them on 99+ SE's or GT's. I personally have 2 mounted in the front footwells as well as 2 under the front seats so they light up the back

nothing wrong w/ $3 ones, im just jealous... lol, anyways, you dont need to go to the battery, just pull out a fuse and grab power from the fuse panel, easy as pie...
