Vote please
We decided to alter the weekdays to try not to cram everything into a weekend.
Wednesday - Arrive, settle in, say your "Hello's"
Thursday - Track day (hopefully rented out to us for the day)
Friday - BBQ and Show & Shine
Saturday - Open day to do whatever with whoever, wherever (or depart)
Sunday - Say "Goodbyes til next year" day (Departure day)

I voted June 22 to June 26 so it will be here quicker. The July ones might be harder for some people to make due to 4th of July and traveling and such w/ or to families. I like the stretched out week thing though, that will be pretty cool.

mhmm tough one like I like the 22nd to the 26th but I also like the 13th to the 17th.mhmmm

i voted for august (as much as i'd like it to be sooner as well) but it really depends on when the other annual car shows are scheduled (carlisle CCN, GM nats, GAP, etc...) it would be hard if it were 2 weekends in a row of traveling/taking time off from work :-/

We'll have to see what the majority wants but I know that last year, I had to get my daughter's school to completely rearrange her exam schedule and I don't want to have to do that again :)

Damn I am going to try and make it this year the only problem is, is that I would have to freakin fly and I want to drive there with my GA and do all that fun stuff. I have a good enough job now where I could probably try to make it out. I wonder if I would be the farthest to travel.,

4-tough to get vacation....

i dunno, that's what i'm asking. it's been so crazy at work lately that i haven't really been on either site much. they usually pick the date for that around january. and since they didn't have it this year, i was really hoping to go next year.

I just need time to request off from work. Any day would be fine for me if I could get off.
It's probably a 1.5 hour drive for me but I am willing to take it.
akeller
12-02-2004, 07:39 AM
Oh gee a 1.5 hour drive? Are you going to need a second driver? Mine will be about 18 hours and I am sure someone else has me beat on that too. 1.5 hours hahahahahahaha.

no need to get sarcastic. I haven't driven off the island asid from the time I went to dobbs ferry for a LAN party. I got lost on the way back. I don't really enjoy going too far.
18 hours?!? Where do you live?

It's about 12 hours for me, my bad, I wasn't thinking correctly. Just print out yourself some directions on mapquest. Mapquest is your friend.

Anyway the point im tryin to make is im about an hour or more closer to albany they you are (yonkers) and i still have about a 2-3 hour drive

There are always meets near me but why not go to the one w/ quite a bit of people going, sponsers there and meet new people? And why not do a road trip to Albany to have fun? It just seems like a good time that I am willing to make a 12 hour drive for. I know a 1.5 hour drive is a long time for you but that is nothing. 12 hours is not that bad at all. That is about how long it takes me to get to Florida when I go and that is nothing. Hell if I bring a buddy w/ me, half the fun is the drive there and back. I am sure someone else here on the boards definetly had me beat on my 12 hour drive.

I make it in about 10 hours. But would GLADLY tack on 2 to make it. I make the drive out east about 5 times a year. This year I wasn't able to, but.... you'd be surprised at how you get used to long trips like that!

Yeah 12 hours isn't that bad at all. It can be fun, especially when you have a buddy or two w/ ya on the way there cuz you get into all kinds of fun/trouble.

Why don't the admins tell us what dates work best for them, give us several to choose from, and then have a new vote on those dates. The one with the most votes of course wins and if someone can't do that date, tough stuff, work around it. We obviously can't make everyone here happy. It just needs to be the majority is happy.

I believe we're trying to get some other things figured out (track availability being the main one) before we set more specific dates to vote on.

As stated above by my wife we will hopefully have dates soon after the new year. Track avaliblity is a major concern. Last two years we set the date and crossed our fingers hoping the track would be open. And both times it fell on Ford Day, lol.
But to let you know we aren;t sleeping on this. Chad (Y2KGPGT) has been trying to stay in contact with Glen at Lebanon Valley Dragway to figure things out. But let me tell you from experiance getting a hold of this guy is not easy. And even worst in the winter months when they aren't open.
Stay tuned everyone, we'll hopefully have a date set soon.

I can go for any date from June 15th to July Aug 5th. I have to start college, and with sports thats going to be tough to go in august. So these are the definite dates that I can go...I might have to bring my dad.
However.....I do have questions :D
1) Do we need anything other than money and a liscence to race?
2) How much (apx) will this trip run me?
3) What kind of stuff can I win?
4) How will I know who each person is?
5) Do I have to sign a waiver or anything that involves insurance?
6)Can you proof my age?
7)What are the hotel rooms like and how much are they?
8)How much does it cost to race? to watch?
9)What kind of "Side Events" are there?
10)More questions to come.

1 - money and license.
2 - Food, gas and what ever else you buy I would say 300+
3 - They have a drawling the day of the picnic for stuff.
4 - We are givin name tags
5 - no
6 - I gots no idea about that.
7 - Hotels are like any other hotel, but they aint bad. You can find a roommate a split the cost. Very good idea to do!
8 - I'm thinking around $10. I can't remember.
9 - hmm I can't remember...
I took a stab at a few....
If you're deciding on to go or not... My first meet was this year... It was awesome and I never had any regrets... It was a loooong drive but all well worth it!! Sooo jus go!! I had to save up money and all for it, but like I said.. well worth it!! :)

1) Yes to race you need a valid drivers license. And as a reminder and a note to those that do not know, any damage done to your vehicle while at the track is NOT covered by your insurance. So stay away from those concert retaining walls.
2) Couldn't tell you, I stayed at home and only commuted 20 minutes.
3) Last year you could win anything from Gift Certificates for GrafxWerks, to a SCT spoiler or gift certificates for RSM.
4)We had name tags last year but you can always just walk up to someone and ask their screen name. Most people won't bite during the day light hours.
5) When you race you will sign a form that pretty much states Run at your own risk.
6) Not sure what for.
7) Hotel rooms were nice last year and IIRC an double bed room was about $60. So find a bunkmate or two or three and split the difference.
8) It was about $30 for Test & Tune, and like $10 to spectate.
9) We are working on different things for this year.

1. Liscence, Helmet, and if you run crazy times.... a brain bucket
2. Plan on 300-400 bucks. Better safe than sorry. It sucks to run out of gas in Ohio when you're from Michigan (long story)
3. A whole crap load of stuff from GM will be there this year
4. Ask :) There's no one there that's gonna be rude to you. Unless the Old Guy gets drinkin! :D
5. Yes, at the track you do. Anything happens there you're pretty well screwed. Also if you hit Mel's car, forget about insurance, run!! She CAN KICK SOME ARSE! :D
6. I can prove it by looking at your Drivers Liscence
7. We Sleep??? I don't remember, I think I blacked out
8. about 30 bucks to race and 10 to watch. For the extra 20 bucks, racing is much more fun!
9. Cruise in's, hanging out, Modding cars
10. Fire away! That's why we're here

The members of Club ECM are getting together this Wed. The main topic is the Date for the GAOC Meet. With some luck we will have a date set within the next week. We are aiming to get a date by the first of the year so everyone has time to ask for the time off from their jobs. I am still waiting for a reply for LVD about the track rental. I have talked to LVD in the past week but something came up having to due with the track and I was asked to wait a little longer for an answer about renting the track. As soon as I get more info I will relay it on to everyone.

thats the main reason i am not going.. i dont know how much it cost you, but it cost me alot.. it was 70 a night, for 3 nights 210 for a hotel.. i had to pay for my bro also, plus all the gas and the expenses.. and if you are staying there for 5 days instead, ya know its going to be more than i can pay..
