I'm doing my LIM this weekend, and, with my engine having 128000 miles on it, I'm wondering if I should just replace the lifters while I'm in there. I have a few questions about that.

1. Is it a good idea or really necessary at this point? They do make some noise as the engine is running, but nothing severe.

2. Are they accessible with the level of teardown necessary to do the LIM? It looks like it in my Haynes manual, looks like I should be able to pull them out with a magnet-on-a-stick. Is this correct?

3. Looking at PartsAmerica online, I search for lifters for my car and get 18.99 for a price and 4 lb shipping weight. Does this mean that all 12 are in the box, or is this for 1 lifter?

Thanks
CHris

Also, regarding the LIM gasket, I got the Felpro one... and it doesn't have metal rings in it that I've been reading about. Is this normal for the Felpro? Also, is the Felpro a better choice than OEM? I had the OEM one put in it 10000 miles ago... and it's leaking again.

#1. They are probably making noise due to coolant mixing in the oil. And replacing them without new pushrods and rockers wouldn't change anything (due to the normal wear of the other valve train components)

#2.They are accessible but may be a little harder to get out due to mushrooming of the lifter where it contacts the cam lobes.

#3. I would imagine 1 lb, is all the lifters.

The Felpro intake set is updated to eliminate the leakage.

Thanks for the response! I think I'll just leave the lifters alone. I just had my father take a listen on his way through town, and he felt they were fine.
