In my '91 Lumina I sometimes hear a grinding noise coming from the front right side of my car when I am lightly accelerating. The rotors are new, the CV boot isn't ripped, and there are no greasable suspension components. I'm thinking wheel bearing, but I want to isolate the problem before I drop the money.

Two things.
1. after driving a while, put your hand down in the middle of the wheel, Feeling for Heat.
2. I have seen a few times, that a sound starts on one side of a axcel, but the sound imamates from the other. So check both side for the problem. The sounds travels down the axcel of the car kind of like sound in the speaker wires.

Okay, thanks. I'll check tomorrow after class or maybe before if I have time. I did check both CV boots and like I said there are no greaseable suspension components.

Both of the wheels felt WARM, but not HOT. It wasn't uncomfortable for me to keep my hand on them. And considering they are aluminum I would think they would heat up fairly quickly.
