ya there is a shop here in town that will convert cars into convertibles and its pretty dumb for a 4 door but as a 2 door pretty much any car would look good... well heres a pic of a Beretta that was a convertable.. GM only built 4 of these but decided against it.. since the overall strength of the frame was then too weak in a crash

yeah there are some of these tops running around. Every once in a while someone will post that they saw one but non of them are factory

They braced those Beretta's underneath. What killed that project is the cost of conversion.

Seeing a vinyl, or cloth roof covering is nothing new. Just because the roof is covered in fabric doesn't mean it's a 'soft top'. It was comon that classier vehicles like Cadillacs and such had a fabric roof covering. Even muscle cars in the '70s were known to sport vinyl roof coverings.

True true, the most common companion to the ever so stylish mock convertible top is the amazingly blingfull "Phat chrome moulding with snap buttons!"

But ya, that second one looks like it should belong to Huggy Bear!

I've actually seen at least several of those Grand Am types in my life so far, all around where I live.

I hate the fake ragtop look.

My grand dad use roll in one of these :D had the big 460 in it. His was dark red with a dark red vinyl top. That thing was a tank. 79 or 78 town car
http://i17.ebayimg.com/01/i/02/9e/4a/e9_3.JPG
He also had a 78 Coupe Deville at the same time, he was rolling big. He sold the towncar to the boy next door and he is still driving it to this day. I have seen it around in the last year but maybe he had to park it due to gas prices. Grand dad then treade the 78 caddy in for a 87 I belive dark blue Broham 307. That was his wife car and later he got a 94 black Fleetwood nikename the hawk. 5.7 LT1

Here's an example of what mine looked like. I'll hafta see if I can dig up some pics sometime. Mine was Dark Jewel Green (I repainted it, it's a Ford color but not available on the Lincolns) I also had Keystone Classic mags wheels on mine. It came w/ the 5.0 H.O. This is where that motor origionated. NOT in the Mustang GT. Many people don't realize that the 5.0 H.O. was borrowed from The Lincoln Mark7's The diffenece though is that the LSC Mark 7's came w/ more hp & torque & tube headers!
Did I mention they came stock w/ air ride? God I miss that car, it was classy looking, rode like a dream & could kick any stock Camaro or Mustangs ass out of the box!:)
