I'm new to the site, and this would be my first post.

first off I have a 98 grand am gt 2.4, the only mods done so far are matrix intake, dual ractive cat back exhaust, sylvania bulbs, and 17 inch motegi??? rims i really dont know the brand.

I bought the upper prothane mount insert, and will be installing it hopefully tomorrow.

Can I just go with the top insert only, or should I get the lower insert also??

what kind of results will I get with the upper insert only ?

Does the cavalier/ sunfire lower dogbone mount work with the grand am, or is there a special grand am mount that I need to get??

if so where do i get it???

any help would be appreciated I'm new to this Grand Am thing

thanks alot

do the top insert now, and go to www.highrevmotorsports.com and buy the lower dogbone for your car, the jbody dogbone will not fit the nbodys.

I have the poly upper mount insert on my 95. It tightens up shifting alot - no engine torquing. (especially good for manual)

I hear the lower mount will cause excuss vibrations, and I am happy with the difference the top made. I would suggest starting with the top only.

And enjoy the install... I spent hours with soapy water and a hammer... ended up trimming it a bit to get a good fit.

What kind of a challenge is it putting in lower mounts? Upper mounts?

the upper mount should take about 30 minutes or an hour. The lower mount is more invalved then the upper.

Bull I had the hardest time getting the top mount in. Actually it still isnt in. I gave up on it as it didn't want to fit in there correctly. As for the bottom mount that was easy. All you do is jack up the engine put it on Jack stands. Pull two bolts pull the old one out and slap in the new one. Torque it to spec and let it ride. It does increase engine vibration abit but I personally like it. Girlfriend doesn't but thats her deal..

Maybe someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong with the top mount. Are you suppose to soak it in warm soapy water or is there anouther trick to get it in there?

well if you putting it in warm or hot water thats going to make the insert expand.

exactly, if you want it to contract so it'll slide in easier, I suggest putting it in the freezer for a few minutes so it'll get cool

A can of compressed air turned upside-down. It'll spray out ALOT colder and should work pretty well. Just don't inhale to much. CAn get you high or like me sick.
