I took my HU out of my dash the other day to try and figure out to make it sit flush with the dash, going to be making a custom mounting plate, but of course I lost the way I had my head unit setup and can't figure out how I had it. What are some settings that some of you have that(atleast ones with a sub) that hit pretty hard? I've tried playing around with them(have had the head unit for about 2 years now,its the DEH-6400 model). Thanks

I think my friend has the same one,but don't know if it has the same options that mine does....As long as you have the option to to adjust the equalizer and the crossover then that would be cool:)(by holding the Audio button down)

I have the pioneer 8400mp. Adjusting the setting is a personal preference. It also has to do with what kind of system you have.

yeah, the settings depend on the vehicle amount and size of speakers and amps, the positions of them
thats why i like my alpine, i go to the website and enter my vehicle type and type of speaker setup, then the distance from the listener of each speaker, then adjust your x-over and eq settings, then save it to a cd then download it to the HU and it automatically does the settings for you, so if i disconnect my battery or whatever all i have to do is pop that cd in and the settings are restored

well like I said,I have a sub and want settings that will hit hard. I have a JL Audio 12W0 with an Alpine V12 amp and ported box,but Im just looking for some settings that some of you use that I can try,and see which setup sounds best.

I dont think there are settings that will "Hit Harder" than other settings. EQ setting only adjust how the system sounds, they do nothing for volume of music.
Do this to get the most out of your amp/sub:
Adjust your HU EQ to be totally flat, no loudness, no extra bass, nothing.
Set the gains on the amp to the lowest setting. Disconnect the RCA's of any other amps you may have, you only want one set of RCA's hooked up at once.
Turn the HU up to about 75%-90% volume, pop in a CD you are familiar with or use a test CD.
Adjust the gain on the amp slowly until you just start hear some distortion, then back it off a bit.
Repeat for other amps in your system.
Don't touch the amp's gain again unless you add/change something in the system, in which case repeat this entire procedure.
Adjust EQ settings on the HU to your liking.
Now your amp is adjusted properly to hit the hardest it can without any damaging distortion. Most subs that are blown are because of distortion, not because of over powering. Distortion is how you can actually blow a speaker buy using too small of an amp. The small amp has to work harder creating more distortion and eventually killing the sub.
