I travel alot in my car, I like to listen to Sports talk shows, and the ball games. They all are on AM radio. I get shitty AM reception. I was wondering if anyone knew a way to improve AM reception. Does the trunk antenna recieve the AM, or is there a seperate on? IS it possible to replace AM antenna with a stronger one? Any help would be appreciated.

An antenna preamplifier would be my first option.

American International #AB150 - AM / FM Signal Amplifier
Enhance radio reception with this stereo signal amplifier. Designed for AM / FM radios, it provides a full 15dB gain, and adapts to any receiver in a 12-volt application. It Features a built-in on / off switch with an LED indicator light, easy in-dash or under-dash installation, and comes with all hardware and complete instructions.

Find an example here: http://www.electronixwarehouse.com/car/accessories/boosters.htm

Bear in mind that you might need additional interference suppression when amplifying weak signals. Experiment and see!

Hope this helps.
