GM always starts with "WA" for example, '01 Galaxy Silver is
WA U519F.

Alright, I mix paint for GM's 4 to 5 times a day, our shop pumps out 6 to 10 cars a day. It DOES start with "WA" look to the left of your "U" about 40 to 10 spaces. For some reason there'a a gap in the code between the WA & the U but it's there & you'll need it to enter into the computer to get the mixture. Sure, you can go to your supplier & say "I need U...." & he'll know what you need but whether he uses a computer or looks it up in a book it's there.

I said U and a number i didnt say just go. "U" i have painted my car 3 times my number is a U number U23 or U21 or something thats how my car is. I doubt out of how many GA's they would just make 1 car a U number.

Man, how stubborn can someone be?? Tell you what. Care to wager on the subject, I could use some cash?!? It's funny, I've been in autobody for years & years & I mix GM paint everyday but somehow I'm wrong?

Every GM car has a "U" in thier paintcode label. The "U" is actually ignored by most paintcode books but the 'WA" is always present. The reason I put "U..." in my previous staement is because I do not know what color your is so I put "..." in place of your 3 numbers. That picture I attactched is a PPG/ICI paint code lost from the front of thier code reference book. The 'WA" has nothing to do with them (The Paint manufacturers), it's on EVERY GM paintcode. You can look at one, or 100 GM paintcode labels on as many cars & I garuntee you, the "WA" will be there. You see, many paintcodes from other car manufacturers' start with a "U" So I think that's why they ignore the "U" but the "WA" is pretty much exclusive to GM & so whenever you see a "WA" paintcode as a person who mixes paint you know it's a GM code. Just like Honda puts a "P" in a certian area of thier code so you know it's a Honda color.

So for example, take the 1st one on the list. (The "11" isn't in that code, it's just letting you know there's a variation) it would look like this on GM's code label. WA U8952 <---- There's that big gap of ten spaces or so I was talking about. Why they do that? I don't know but the "WA" is part of the code as you can see. Go out & look under your spare tire cover & you'll see the same thing with your paint code. Also, anyone else reading this, GM has been known to screw up & put the wrong code on a build label. I just had a forrest green Buick last week with the Silvermist code on the label. So if you go to buy paint make sure the supplier knows what color the car actually is also & not just have a code in front of him - Something to keep in mind;)

And you know what thefunny thing is out of all the paint codes you have and out of all the colors listed none of them are my cars paint color or code. I doubt car quest would lie and just pick a random number and give me paint that matched. I never seen a WA on my car there was a bunch of numbers then it started a new paragraph and said U blah blah and that was what they took.

Lol, I knew you'd come back with that but I'm not gonna rip a page out of one of my new books to prove a fact. that was a random page that happened to have gotten ripped out. notice they ALL start with "WA"??? But no, you won't. I wish I lived near you so I could bet you $100 then have you take your spare cover off so I could collect some easy cash.

The WA is there on your car too but you won't admit it. I know you never will so that's ok. Just anyone reading this don't let a certian persons stubborness distort the facts.
