Hi all,
I have a 2001 Alero with a 5 speed. Is there anyway to install a remote starter on these? From what I understand, the car must be in neutral when you take the key out to use the remote start BUT it now has to be in reverse to take the key out. Is there a way around this?
Thanks!

As far as i know, you can't put a remote start on a manual because the clutch pedal has to be pressed to start the car, which obviously you can't do remotely :D

Ive been seeing a couple alarms that can be used on manuals but they never said how its done on the manuals, would like to know, must have to do something with wiring in the engine bay to do this.

As far as I know it can be done, you have to bypass the neutral safety switch to make it work. Good luck getting a shop to do it though.

If you can alter the shifter so you can remove the key in neutral, you can send power to the starter from the clutch pedal switch. The danger is that there are no safety features and you could start the car in gear. I think the insurance company would frown on that.
