Well this Christmas I purchased my wife a seat heater from PFYC to keep her tushy warm on cold winter mornings.
This afternoon when she got home from work I went out and warmed up the garage.
Installation was fairly easy. I dread wiring stuff, so that was the worst part for me. For those interested here is a rough overview.
Basically you have to remove seat covers, slide the elements in. Install a rocker switch, and then wire a constant power, ignition wire, and a ground. Install the seat and make all the connections.
Once installed it took a few moments to warm up, but once warm it's totally worth the $100. Couple that with our new remote car starter and the wife shoudl stay nice and toasty on her ride to the office.
All in all I did it in about 2 hours with taking photos and all.
I have pictures, but there really isn't much to show unless you want to see the seat cushion with padding or what the floor looks like under the drivers seat. lol

Now I just need one for my car, leather seats. Burrrr!

Where did you purchase that? It's a really good idea for where I live since it's been like 5 degrees the past 2 weeks.

Shawn she Loves it. We have a waterbed that doesn't heat up like it used to and tonight she said "Hunny, I want seat heaters for the bed."

Yeah her butt is cute and sexy and all, but it's always cold as ice. Like cuddling up with a snowwoman.

I can post pics if you want, not much to see I guess.
This picture shows the seat cover rolled back and the heating elements slide into place. The black bars are heavy duty velcro that attach to the orange thread. When you peel that back take your time and use both hands.

This is a photo of the main control unit. I mounted right below the drivers seat and ran the wire harness under the carpet and up the sill panel. The seat is only held in by two T50 bolts.

Hey John that looks good.
Got a question for you. What are the seat covers held on by? velcro or Hog rings??

I believe they are Velcro and 'plastic' groove hooks ... but I am not COMPLETELY sure :)

I'm unfamiliar with the newer GA seats> Is that the drivers seat? Did they give you a panel to fit the switch to, to mount to the seat? Looks good.
I would be nervous doing it to my seat, as it is 6-way power. All that wiring. But looks like you did a good job.

Looks good John. We will have to hook up so I can get a good look at it and maybe install it on my wife car also.

How did you make the button look that good in there? Drill through that black plastic and slide the button in or what?
BTW you need to clean your carpets ;)

Hey TA, I installed mine back in November, but since it was getting cold, I didn't stay out long enough to run the switch. I'll do that when it's warmer, but for now I just leave it on Hi and tossed it under the seat. I hated getting it installed though. I took the whole chair out, took it in the house, and wrestled the leather off. Took about 2 hours for me getting the seat apart and back together. I couldn't get the lumbar crank up front off though, so I disconnected everything else, and left the bottom seat cover hanging from that. Did you manage to get it off?
Anyway, they work great, anyone with leather definetly needs one. Worth it to be a half mile from your house and your seat starts putting out heat for you. :)

Ok let me see if I can answer some questions for everyone. I searched this topic on many GA forums and came up empty handed that is why I posted this. So lets see if I can help.

One long one in the rear, a thin screw driver works to help unfasten it, one under the seat, and two on the sides. Look at the picture of the cushion rolled back. There is heavy velcro that holds the seat cushion in place, helps keep it from bunching up and everything.

Yes it's the drivers seat. No, there is a black plastic panel on the lower side of the seat, I just drilled a 13/16" hole and stuck the switch in. I was nervous too, I hate wiring stuff. But it was pretty simple. About 2 hours and that was taking my time, taking pictures and all.

BTW you need to clean your carpets ;) Yup, drilled a hole and stuck it in. And I know the carpets are dirty as hell, and we have the original mats, and big heavy rubber truck mats. The carpets will be cleaned in the spring.

I didn't even come close to removing the entire cover, there really is no point in it. If you look at the first photo, that is about as far as I went, then I just slide them in.

Those are pretty nifty... not a lot of use for them here where I live but I think they might be nice to have during the few weeks of the year it is mighty cold here in Cali. I have leather seats... can you take the covers off in the same way you do the cloth ones?? If so then I may have to get me one of those in the future.

Well if you leave the seat heater on when you shut the car off it will come on when you start it the next morning with the starter.

god bless north america. lol. our asses get cold in the winter months on the dead cow we are sitting on......so what do we do? make a butt cheek warmer. seriously people. do you install things like this just to have bragging rights? i know i do sometimes. since it's for your wife it's a little feasable. i treat my girl like a queen too, but a seat warmer? carry a towel out of the dryer when you go. of if you sit in the seat for a few minutes your body heat will warm it up. that's a downfall of getting leather and it's to be expected. what next? a seat cooler to cool it off in the summer? damn who comes up with this stuff? but now that is said, you did a good job on everything it looks like. and it's always a major plus when the car doesn't burn to the ground.

Yeah that is what I did, I went and installed a item that isn't even noticed by the average person for bragging rights.
Why do you have a stereo in your car?
Maybe Cruise Control?
Power Windows and locks?
What about A/C and heat?
Let me guess you ride sitting on a milk crate.
Why do people have car starters? And yes we have one of those also.
Hmmm it's called comfort.
Obviously you don't live in the north east and don't know how cold our winters get. But it will quickly chill you to the bone. And BTW, we don't have leather seats either. By the time you leave the back door with that dryer warm towel it would be just as cold as the seat.
Incase you are totally unaware alot of vehicles come with seat heaters from the factory and it's been a incressingly more popular option on cars especially within the last decade.
Here I have one you can pass judgement on.
I've been pondering installing heated hand grips on my motorcycle for early spring and late fall riding, you know that and the added bragging rights.
