VERY nice man, can't wait to see the finished product.....As for the 7.2 inch, you would have some serious problems with fitment.Yea you could get it to fit but why go with more work when the outcome with a 5.6 or so in ich easier and just the same outcome,a LCD molded into the dash.Plus this will end up looking "stock" like you see in high end model cars with GPS navigation. You can prolly end up doing this cheaper.Search for a low priced LCD monitor and if you already have a PS2(I do) or something that already can play DVD's then all you need is the LCD monitor.Keep the work up man, looking awesome!

The screen I have looks EXACTLY the same as one I saw in a mercedies SUV. Anyhow.. If you read the article I wrote you will see why I picked what I picked. Its not because I cant afford a 7.2. Money Isnt a problem for me. I wanted to put a budget on my project just to see if its possible to have a custom molded LCD and dvd player for under $100. Right now my total is $90. Not too bad huh?

yea,not bad at all....Id test that screen b4 you mold it in..I have a feeling it might burn up after a while. My friend bought a cheapy one and the screen burned up on him,all he did was play dvd's and installed it himself, had all the wires checked and used a volt meter to make sure things were fine, took the unit apart,a piece in the screen burned up,couldn't find out why. Hope it works though, looks like a nice little kit. That dvd player could be easily hidden. I personally wouldn't go with a 7.2 just cuz of that fact it is a tad big for the 96-98 dash trim.

You didnt read the part where I was building this on a budget? Show me where I can get a 7 inch widescreen and dvd player for under $75. I can fit a 13 inch in there with no problem. Im an engineer for the US navy. If there's a will there's a way. Just people please read before you start posting replies.

Go Navy! Anyways, now that that is out of the way.
I like it. That is very awesome. Any clue what brand the LCD is? I know that it was used in a taxi, but that's all the ebay item said.

lookms like you have done very well. your skills with bondo look to be top notch. after its painted you might find more imperfections...one hint...take a black spray can. after its primered...lightly spray the black paint to just dot the area, not coat it. thatll help reveal peaks and valleys better.

Let us know how the quality is with the screen. May be a better idea than to get the Pioneer AVIC in dash dvd player.

IS ULTIMATE BONDO MORE LIKE A FIBERGLASS PUTTY OR ACTUALLY A BONDO JUST MENT FOR PLASTIC. ALSO HOW MUCH IS IT AND SIZE? I HAVE BEEN LOOKING EVERY WHERE FOR A PRODUCT THAT STICKS WELL TO PLASTIC THAT DONT COST AN ARM AND LEG. ALSO U JUST GLUED IN THE PLASTIC PIECE BEFORE BONDO RIGHT.

before the bondo I used this stuff called plastic weld. Its a high strength epoxy for plastic. I bought it at walmart for like $3. The bondo I used is just a better bondo that the can claimed would stick to anything, so i tried it and it worked great on plastic. Just make sure you rough it up first so it has something to hold on to. The can cost me like $9 at walmart and it the normal smaller sized can which is plenty for any project you might wanna do.
