I just hooked up a cheap Rampage cd player for now, and was wondering where the remote wire goes? I know it goes from the amp to the radio but, there is no remote wire coming from the deck. can i put it somewhere else? how else can i get it to work???

you can hook it up to the red wire. thats the wire that gets the signal from the car to turn the radio on. its not ideal, but it should do the job.

if you dont have an amp on it..just leave it capped off.

The remote wire FROM the amp tells the amp when to turn on, when the remote wire is live (contains electrical current), it triggers the amp to turn on.

Normally, you hook up the remote wire from the radio to the amp. When the radio is turned on, it sends electricty to the remote wire turning on the amp.

if your radio does not have a remote wire lead, then you can just hook it up to the red lead as proposed, BUT then your amp will never turn off (shouldn't be a problem, but could lead to battery drain especially if your amp is fan cooled). You can try hooking it up to the ignition lead (usually yellow) as well which would only result in current when your iginition is in the on position.

If you go the red lead route, I would hook up a switch as well.

you could always just hook it up to a totally separate power source and have a switch for it

...or connect it to your deck's power antenna lead. :)
