I called around for an estimate for window tinting and i got a price but they told me that i would have to get black vinyl on my back window because the tint would turn white with the heating element being on in the back window. My question is has anyone out there have to get the black vinyl or did you get just regular tint? because i don't want white dots on my tint from the heating element. Just trying to see if anyone else has ran into this problem. I have a 2001 Se. Thanks

actually its the easy mans way out... its funny how some places think its hard to do.. well i dont know if these shops have ever tried to tint a Chev Beretta.,.. they are the worst back windows you can possible tint... it has a 3 way curve on it.. and well when i had the car all of them sighed when they heard me asking since its such a horrible car to do ... but they can do it.. and do it as if the glass was tinted from the factory.. and ive seen thier work.. so its quite possible.. it was just the shop you asked... personally i would find a more compitent shop to do the job..
and also as thier credentials... since the shop i was at.. the tint intstaller won 2nd place in all of canada... the year before.. so that was good enough for me

Didn't have any problem with my tint. Sounds like they are lazy or not to professional with tint.

I got a black vinyl drop over the paint buttons at the top of the rear windshield. They said that the tint doesn't stick well on the irregular surface and I tend to agree with them because I was pushing the tint back down on the side window dots for the first day.
The rest of the rear window has the tint right over the defrost wires with no problems.

shop up here tried twice putting tint over the dot matrix. Didnt stay on certain parts so they litterally painted over the matrix :(

The rear defroster shouldn't cause any problems. But my shop had some trouble on top because of the bubbles. There are some white spots there, but the tint is sticking well right now.

I will agree that the dot matrix is a pain. The vinal will look good if its just over the dot matrix.
I looked at the other post trying to see how to spell vinyl. you guys spelled it three of four differant ways. So I really not sure how to spell it. LOL

If that tint shop thinks that the dots at the top of the windows is the defroster run away and go to a place that knows what they're talking about.
