well my engine is dead once again, as the dealer put it: You have some aftermarket stuff going on with that engine, that oil pressure sending unit is going to void your warranty.so, unless I sue or something, I have just seen $4,000 go down the drain because the guy is acting retarded. So I am very seriously considering dropping in a 3800, even a NA one would be an improvement... the 3400 was my first thought, but they are a lot harder to find without major engine problems (piston slap being the lesser of the ones I have found) I am NOT buying another engine from the dealer, due to the shitty treatment they have given me all 6 or 7 times I have gone up there for something.

so all that has been said, now on to why I really wrote this. Someone has done one of these swaps, but I cannot remember for the life of me who. If anyone knows, let me know.

They are not on here, they are on another site. The engine swap will run 3500 dollars with the engine (if you get it) 4500 without anything. 2500 with the engine and the tranmission (thats if you get both of course.
And it takes about 1 month to do, sometimes more.

By the way, what did you modify to void the warranty? There really isn't much you can do with them.

put it back to stock and go back to another dealer. It can't be that hard unless you have cams and billet connecting rods or something.

well, the dealer says I ran the car out of oil which is horseShyte, I checked it every 2-3 weeks, and more after the problem started happening. never did it fall below the add line. They want to blame it on my oil pressure gauge, which was installed after the problem began to kind of monitor what was going on... the engine always had 50-60 psi of pressure on starting up, and never went below 20 psi. so I pretty much ruled an oil problem out. and with the state they have my engine in, I can't put it back to stock because they have ripped it apart and are waiting for payment to put it back together. the oil pressure gauge did not leak, other than on the first day, which I promptly fixed, with Teflon tape.

Ok what website are these people on? and where would be a good place to get it done at? Thanks for any help

a smaller, lighter GA with the SC3800, **drool**

I found a movie online, a souped up SC3800, 0-60 in probably 4-5 seconds I think. sadly, I forgot where it was.

if you could get a 3.8L S/C in a grand am, it would be very fast. With a few mods, the GTP can get into the high 13's, and teh GA weights like 400lbs less.

but about he piston slap, i dont think thats a 3.8L problem as much as a 3.1/3.4
