well first off, i stopped at a target on the way home and when i got back in my car it wouldnt start. it tried turing over then died. i finally got it started and it drove fine, when i got home i noticed when i turned the car off a gurgling sound came from the gas tank area. i'm assuming there is a fuel pump there? :idunno: i'm having the dealer do my brakes tommorrow so i'll have them check it out. any ideas?

I'm not really familiar with your engine, but I do believe all GAs have in-tank fuel pumps (at least they did in 1989 when mine was new lol.) That could very well be the gurgling sound you are hearing. It could be being caused by a clogged fuel filter maybe. Not an expert, just a thought.

Sounds like a whole or something is not getting enough suction :(

Sounds to me like you had an 'air lock' in your fuel system causing it not to start and when you shut the car back off, the remaining air was being relaeased back to tank ..., just a GUESS!!

the dealer said it's most likely a clogged fuel filter, if it was the pump like i originally thought my SES light would have come on. so it's all good.

I friend where I work had the air return line get clogged on his VW. It caused such a vacumm in it, it actually crushed his gas tank as the gas drained out the gas tank shrunk/collapsed. He came to work thinking someone jacked up his car in the middle of the night and swapped the tank.

He ended up pulling the tank and beating it out as best he could. He now has a 6 gallon tank.

This is a odd but true story.. I talked to my dad about it, he just started laughing, said it's not the first time he's heard of gas tank collapsing.

If I saw my tank crushed like that I would be so mad that my head would do the same thing.
