I remember reading somewhere that people have put the 1.8 head on 2.0 blocks to get a little boost in compression ratio. As far as I recall, this was done to non-turbo motors, could be wrong

Obviously what I'm thinking is slapping a 1.8 head on my motor. The only drawback is smaller valves. However, the 1.8 valves are only slightly smaller than the 2.0. Intake is like .08" smaller and exhaust is .056" smaller.

Anyone have any info on people doing this or a link to a site that discusses it. For the life of me I can't remember where I read this.

Aside from the increased compression, the 1.8 heads can be had for half the cost of the 2.0 heads. Anything to save money.

Shouldnt it be the other way around? 2.0 head on the 1.8?

Due to the slightly larger combustion chamber you'd end up lowering the compression on the 1.8 if you put on a 2.0 head. You'd gain a very small amount of increased flow but not enough to offset the lower compression.

May work well if you're working with a turbo 1.8 and want to crank up the boost. I'm looking to get a little more than 8.0:1 c/r and run 10psi with upgraded cam and valvetrain.

Got the head off my bad motor today. If you recall, I had that head rebuilt about a year ago. Only had about 2k on it before a rod bearing went out. Basically, the head still looks like it just came out of the machine shop so I'm gonna port/polish it a bit and run it.

Still holding out for a big check from work so I can throw down some cash at Mantapart and upgrade the cam/valvtrain.

Thinking of repainting the red parts gloss black. My GA is black and I'm thinking it would look nice with a black motor.
