Hello I am new to the club just got back from Iraq and decided to start working on my Grand Am and before I start any work I had a question. I have the 2.2 Ecotec auto and my question is what would be more cost efficient swapping the 2.2 for a v6 or just keeping what I have also I am going to switch it to a manual. I know that its going to cost money and am prepared for this I was just wondering what would be best.
Thanks

I have a 2002 2.2L ecotec with a manual transmission. It is worth around $7000-8000. It would be better (cheaper) if you sold your car and bought what you want.

Making what you have into something you want is going to be expensive. You could buy a '02 with the manual tranny and go from there or you could get a V6 and turbo/supercharge/spray it.
My '02 manual is worth less than the same car with an automatic transmission. The guy I bought it from said he could have sold it many times if it had a automatic.
I think you would be better off buying a car with a 5 speed than trying to convert yours.
Good luck and let us know how you make out.
