This morning about 15 minutes ago hubby went out to my car to go to work and when he turned it over nothing happened...So he holds the key over for a few seconds and it finally cranks up...then he turns it off and re-starts it to see if it'd give him the same problem and it didn't, it just started right up. So, my question is - Why the heck did it do this for? Today was probably one of the colder mornings we've had at 39 degrees farenheit...but nothing compared to what it will get down to this winter! This is worrying me cuz I have to have a vehicle to drive also to work...AHHH Please help me figure out what is wrong with my car.

Step 1 (as always): Make sure your battery cables and terminals are tight, brite, and shiny.
You state "he turned it over nothing happened".
I *assume* you mean, "he turned the key, the starter motor engaged, the engine made several rotations, but the ignition/fuel didn't fire and the engine didn't start on its own".
If the car had been setting over the weekend, the fuel pressure might have 'bled down'; the ignition 'ON' for a few seconds is what is required for the fuel pump (in the tank) to re-pressurize the fuel lines adequately for the injectors to squirt.
This *might* be a sign of the fuel pump going bad.
The FP is a 'combo unit' with the fuel level sender. R&R is about 6 hours (since step 1 is to drop the fuel tank), and the part was ~$220 (genuine Delco, thru NAPA).
Have the fuel pressure checked before considering this drastic procedure.
Good luck.

When he turned the key to start the car, it doesn't make any noise at all, but after a few seconds it cranks right up...you just have to hold the key over longer than normal but it will start.

At this point...no. Cold weather or even hot weather can funk up electrical and electronic components. It could be effecting the ignition switch or the starter solinoid. If at all possible park it inside a garage, if you don't have one try parking it out of the wind. Or have a block heater installed. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
I would at least go with cleaning up the battery terminal connections as a start. Some other possibilities would be the starter solenoid or the ignition switch itself.
