This may sound like a dumb question but what is a good 1/4 mile time for the 3.3/

I only ran a 17.3. Not to make excusses but it was a hot, humid day and it was the first and only time I have ran. My car has too many miles on it to run hard too much.

what the fastest time anyone knows of a 3.3 running? and anyone know if a 3.8 supercharger will fit on it?

I don't think I've heard of anyone running much below 17 seconds. I want to say that I heard someone ran a high 16 but I'm not sure. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I was dissapointed with that time untill I saw that other 3.3 owners ran about the same times. I hate to say it but, our cars aren't that fast on the drag strip. I think the weather has a lot to do with it, when its in the 50s it feels like it makes more power, and in the summer with 85 degree heat and high humidity it sucks the life out of it.

I was hoping to be the first to do it, been planning it for years, but no money. However the editor of GM cartalk has done it already, and successfully. 245 hp before adding the many upgrades availiable for that engine.

he got the 3.8 put in? how much of a change was it? or was it just a simple swap?

It is a very similiar engine, same water pump, valve covers, etc. the difference would be that the 3800's are sequencial fuel injection and the 3300's are only multiport FI. this means that you need to change the computer, and add some wires to the wiring harness, or change the harness. I will tell you how hard it is If I ever get around to doing mine:rolleyes:

duh not GM cartalk but Gm powertalk magazine. I found the e-mail from jason ( the editor) but he didn't give any info about how it went. unfortunatly the links to GMPOWERmag.com don't seem to work anymore so the mag may be scraped. I will not give up until I find out more info though!

Nop thats about right for timming. Thats what i was doing about 16.7 16.8. to bad these engines never came with a 5 speed, I think thay would have been faster. but thats my nexed project. finding a 3300 and a muncie 5 speed and pairing them together.
Then I can drop it in my car and dump this crappy 2.3 I have now
