i have a 97 ga and i have a rattling noise i can't locate. it is most noticeable when the car is in reverse, but is present at all sppeds and gears. it is also more audible in the cabin (but def. coming from the engine compartment) than outside the car. could it be a lower motor mount (upper looks fine) or the exhaust manifold? had the car a little over a year and had to replace heater core, battery and alt. any help is really apprecited. i want to get it squared away quickly (it's getting cold here in Ohio).

thanks everyone

go under your car and try to shake the cat. converter and see if it sounds like rocks are in there.... make sure all lugnuts are tight... does it do in idle? or only under acceleration.. because a rattle under the hood could be anything...

check the heat shield on the cat converter.

It does do it at all speeds and gears, the lugs should be tight (just had 4 new tires put on). The cat was replaced by the dealer, a week after I bought the car (warranty repair, lucked out). I'll investigate the heat shield (did some twisting/pulling on it when I replaed the heater core).

Thanks Guys!
