Hey

I've been having this problem recently and it has been getting progressivly getting worse. When starting the car, both with the key and the remote starter it sounds fine, then will cut out, or kind of die, like I let go of the key and then continue. Since that started happening I got a new starter and starter relay. On the old one, the power wire was partially broken off, but all the connections are ofcourse secure on the new one. The only thing I can think of is a loose wire on the other end of the wires. Any suggestions on where to look or what it could be?

Thx
Red

here's the starting system wiring diagram. could it be the park/neutral safety switch? also seems like some kind of thermal overload protection? will ponder for a little while...

and today things got even worse. The car really chokes when I start it, and it barely starts.. doesn't even start at all using the remote. Sounds like it is flooding out or something. Going to try plugs and fuel filter. I checked one plug, and it had a lot of white deposits on it.. so see what happens.. otherwise thanks for the wiring diagram, that is still a possibility :)

Also check and clean your battery terminals.

just an update, after doing all that I did, I bit the bullet, and took it to the shop. it was getting so bad taht I really didn't think it was going to make it there. It ended up that it was a loose wire.. the same wire I suspect that was broken off at the contact on the original starter. Very odd, as I'm sure I doubled checked that connection.. but I guess I overlooked it :( NE ways, lesson learned, and I got me a good shop.. didn't even charge me a penny for it..!
