im thinking of swapping over to the smoother lines of the 96-98's but dont know if they will fit my 94.

has anyone tried this? if so how much work is involved.

Yes, they fit. Not much work is involved at all. You just have to switch the hood, trunk, etc etc. It takes alot of money. But if you found a donar car, then your set.

the front you need, 96-98 fenders, hood, lights, light brackets, and front bumper

Hu? Ok
For the rear you would need the rear panels, trunk, and you'd have to custom mount the lights since they wont fit the mounting. Or I could be wrong about the mounting. But either way.
What I do know is this.
New trunk lid.
New side panels.

Fenders and doors are the same from 92-98... go look closely at a 92 fender and a 98 fender... you will see what I mean... the bumper in 96-98 makes up for the straight cut in the fender.

Otherwise thats right... for the rear u need bumper, trunklid, and tails. I know a couple people have done it before so just do some searching and you'll find it.

you think the gap would be to much at the lower outer corners if i just did the deck lid and lights? maybe find some sort of filler.

would this work with swapping a 97 with a 99+? i saw a beautiful looking 00 front bumper/headlights, all the good stuff, etc at the junkyard two days ago... made me think.

No... 92-98 uses the same panels / fenders / doors... 99+ is totally different.

actually the 92-95 and 96-98 fenders are different, its slight but they are different. the differences are mainly around the turn signals.

They are actually not different at all.... look closely at the pics... in the 96-98's the front bumper makes up for the difference in the headlight / corner lens arrangement.

the difference is how they are mounted. After taking my stock one off and putting on my body kit, there are two mounting bolts on both driver and passenger side where the little curve piece hides. You would need the 96-98 fenders because they have the mounting piece for the front bumper. Then youd need the 96-98 headlights.

Alright this explains why two people I know used their 92-95 fenders on the 96-98 gt conversion... musta been magic...

As I have just done this process, I know what to do.

New headlights, hood, tail lights, trunk lid, and bumpers are needed. The 96-98 headlights have a plate that attaches to the fender, very nice to have, but not needed. Have fun with the ass end, a pain in the ass. 96-98 have slightly differnt panels that hold the tails, which have like a little "platform" that is below them, which holds the bumper on, which the 92-95 do not have.

You would need to weld/screw on some sort of support beam to attach the bumper to. Also, the tailz do fit in the old holes, but they stick out a tad farther than the old ones, creating a small gap from the plastic "cover" to the body. A simple snading job will allow you to slide them into the holes for a tight fit.

Also, for the hood, the radiaotr support? bars would b nice to get from the new car, but is not needed as you can modify the old one to hold the hood, just easier gettin the new one.

Any more questions?

P.S. I have a detailed description on my CarDomain site which can be viewed by clicking the "WWW" button under the post.
