How hard is it to change the heater core in a 90 quad 4 se 2 dr? I ask because I smell sweet coolant when the heat is on sometimes.Where do you get at the heater core from also?

It may or may not be the heatercore. Look for leaks first. Check the obvious; heatercore, waterpump, gasket leaks, hoses and coolant bottle. If there is any coolant leaking somewhere in the engine bay you will smell it when you turn the heat on. Check the passengerside floor to see if it's wet, that may also tell you if it's specifically the heatercore or not.

I changed the water pump and fixed that leak. I have looked around a bit, and found nothing. I will look again tomorrow when I change the oil.

I had a leak from my lower intake and I could smell coolant like you wouldn't believe, almost made you ill. Fixed the leak, fixed the smell. :)

Fortunately the Quads don't have that problem! :) Coolant goes through the throttle body, but not the intake manifold. But I understand what you're getting at.
If it does end up being the heater core, well, all I can say is it's a pain in the butt! Certainly do-able, but annoying. It may be easiest to take out the center console to get at the core...but I did it the back-breaking way on my old '89...

I just had the damn center console out too, car got broken into and they just yanked the deck out and broke everything, so I installed an new one.
