Is there any way to remove the governor w/o getting the ASE Chip? (tops out at ~126mph)
i dont care about the hp boost that the ASE chip give because i dont want to run on premium.
if i dont get the rev limiter removed would i be able to hit the top speed on the speedometer? (150mph)
if there are other ways, what do you recommend the most?
i would also like to know why there is a loud knocking noise when i start it up after it has been off over night (i ran it for over 10 mins and it was still making the noise) and why afer i drive it for like 5 miles it stops.
When i go 40ish mph i can hear a low frequency loud headache causing noise from my right front wheel... what the heck is that?... is it the transaxle? cant hear it at many other speeds.
well thanx in advance.
By the way the car is a:
1999 Grand Am GT Coupe
3400 V6 H.O. w/ RAM AIR
85000 miles
Arctic White
automatic

does anyone know if the old car i had has a governor or not it was a 1992 Grand Am SE coupe w/ 3300 V6 automatic while driving it i was able to bury the needle past the end of the speedo (ended at 115mph)and in to the top of the dash but i could not tell if it was going any faster once it hit the dash.

Do you plan on going on the Autobahn?!?!?!?! As far as I know, there is no one who does that and you WILL NOT hit 150mph in a GA. MAYBE MAYBE 140mph. Everyone that I have heard getting their computer reprogrammed does it for the gains and firmer shifts/higher rev, why would you want to get something that costs a lot when you will never use it?

as far as your other questions, it would be best to post another thread in the problems and solutions forum

i want to have the ability to say i dont have a governor and my brother has been giving me shit bout how his 95 monte carlo z34 (3400 DOHC 215HP) could beat my car in a race and because of my governor i would never win and my friend has a 1980 Camaro z28 w/ a 350 5.7 from a 70 impala police interceptor and high compression, and we are going to race at a race track as soon as he gets the rest of the car restored and i want to at lest have a chance.

in a 1/4 mile, your car wont be able to reach 100mph let alone 130+

With all due respect, I regularly make high speed runs after work (11:30pm-12am) at least once a week just to "stretch my car's legs". Just this evening I made three seperate runs to 100+mph. (Not that I recommend or endorse such activity - not everyone possesses a competition license).

The fact is that some people will from time to time will find a way to make use of such capabilities, and for the unbelievably low price of 309$ US, you can have better shift points, higher rev limits, more horsepower and a ridiculously high speed limit.

When I take into consideration the fact that I spend more than 1 weekend a month at the local road course, it is a bargain as far as performance mods go.

And the ASE setup offers benefits over the entire rpm range, not just at peak, so the usable power gains available can be used every day, in regular driving situations.
