Gentlemen and ladies,

I need to buy some touchup paint for my 2002 Ecotec 2.2L SE1. She's black in colour. I went to the local Canadian Tire (in Canada) that sells all sorts of these things for cars. Question is, do you know what colour code this 2002 car takes? I saw Black universal and Black flat. Can either of these do for the minor scratches I have accumulated on the sides of the doors over the years? (The passengers in my car love to just scratch the side of the side by opening it to fast... Since it's my dad who usually does, I can't really do or say much.)

If there is a specific colour for her, where is that specified?

Thanks!

Aaron

Best bet is to call the dealership from which you purchased the car. Thats pretty much the only way to truely know which kind it is.

uh my 96 has the code in the spare tire well, perhaps urs is too, also your engine has absolutely nothing to do with the colour code of the car

I know the engine has nothing to do with the colour, but well, I don't know. I thought I'd mention it anyway.

Yeah, the dealership is pretty much the best place to know for sure if you dont have what Jaysin has under his wheel well.

Check the area where the spare tire goes or the inner door jam. The color codes are typically there on GM models. Your dealer can also advise what and where the color codes are.

If and when you go to buy the paint, don;t buy it at a dealership. Their touch-up paints have been sitting for months...if not years. Contact a reputable auto paint supply store with your year, model, color code, etc. They can mix up a small batch for you lots cheaper than a dealership...and it will be fresher than the dealership's paint.
