My car is a 2000 grand am se. I totally love this car until recently. On Christmas day I was driving home when all of a sudden my car started losing speed and died. when i tried to start it, the engine sounding like it was going to jump out of my hood. after a few minutes, the car started right up and i drove it for about 40 miles or so and it did it again. this time the engine light came on. my car has 123,000 miles on it so we thought the fuel filter needed to be changed. once we did that and i drove it around for about 10 minutes the engine light went off. i drove the car without incident for about three days. on the fourth day i was driving up the interstate at about 70 miles per hour and it died again. the engine did the same jumping around again once i tried to start it. after a few minutes, the car started right up. i took it to my local mechanic and the car is not displaying any codes when it was checked by the computer. this car has never caused me any grief until now. the mechanic does not think it is the fuel pump because they started it and it ran fine for two hours. i asked about the fuel pressure, o2 sensor, and the car's computer itself. the mechanic does not think this is the problem. so right now no one has a clue what is wrong. I need help!!!
