Why won't it work?

I have a grand am that I just bought. It's an Automatic. I just took it out, and I got stuck in the snow, so I was rocking the car back ad forth, and got it unstuck. then I as I was driving I noticed the check engine light on. And when you put it from Reverse to drive it just slamms into drive. I'm thinking something with the tranny is wrong.

Well, I talked to my uncle, and he said that is was prob just ice and snow stuck up in the tranny linkage. I just took the car out again, and the check engine light is off, but it still jerks when shifting into drive. does anyone know what else the problem could be?
