Hi guys, I am considering purchasing a hid conversion kit for my 00 GT but I was reading some info on www.hidplanet.com about how they wouldnt look to good with normal vehicles without projectors. Is this true? Do they make projectors for 00 GA's? If so where and how much and also has anyone in here ever made their own projectors from stock headlight assembly or something? THanks guys!! Also for the people with Hids, can you please post some pics... I want to compare the hids on different yr GAs. I am most likely looking into the 6000k

Matt

Currently there are no projection headlights out for any Grand Am,well that are made for them anyways. You will have to make them youself, now unless you own a 96-98 then you can use civic projectors. As for the HIDs,it doesn't matter what type of headlight you have,HIDs are HID's and they are going to be bright no matter what. If you wish to make your own projectors you will have to take apart your headlights(just cut the rubber seal, and heat up the headlights around the edge, should just come apart) and find some small round fog lights and retro fit them into the headlight and then buy some clear headlight covers to use as your new lens, this way you get rid of the ugly orange reflector. There is a guy here that has already done it,Magyver,he might let you know exactly how he did it if you ask nicely, lol.

So if I bought some Civic projectors, they will fit in my 98 Grand Am?

You'll have to ask Wes about doing that conversion.Everything Ive found about them was from Wes or Flatline. But IIRC, You'll have to do some cutting on the side part of the front bumper(where it curls up by the fender).Other then that its all about wiring them up with the civic harness and aiming them.

Wow, thats a pretty slick job on that car. Some of it's a bit overboard for my taste, but I do like the custom headlights and tail lights, nice touch.

wiring is super easy... have the normal +switching, and seperate high/lows... (96-98 anyways) whats the hard part? if you had a 99+, it gets tricky, but still can be done.
