Ok here are the dates that have been worked out for the Albany GAOC Meet 2005. If all goes well this is what we have plan but not yet set in stone. Ownership of Lebanon Valley Dragway has changed hands and we are still trying to get information from the new owners. But as we promised we would have an update in the new year so here it is. The dates are set, but the series of events may alter.
July 13th - 17th, 2005.
Wednesday 13th - Arrival, Greetings, Local Cruising.
Thursday 14th - Thatcher Park, Show & Shine.
Friday 15th - Explore Albany, check out what there is to see.
Saturday 16th - Lebanon Valley Dragway.
Sunday 17th - Departure and farewells.

Thanks for posting the dates John. Now that the dates are set, hopefully everyone can get the time off from work and come to Albany and have a good time. You won't regret coming, you will leave with a smile and alot of good memories.

As John said the track as changed hand and I am working on getting a price from them. If we do end up renting the track we will be the only one on the track for the time we have it for. If I am not mistaken the old owners rented it out in 4 or 6 hour blocks. If I do not hear from them by Wed. of next week I am going to drive up there and see if I can talk to someone. I don't know if anyone will be there but I am going to try anyways.

I have an idea for us CT/Mass ppl. Since I know a couple of you guys have been up there already, we should meet up somewhere and drive up together. Just a thought, it would kinda suck for me if i had to drive all that way without someone to talk to lol. let me know
how far is LVD from Albany anyway? Lebanon is like an hour and a half away from me i think.

This kinda changed things a bit... I was going to be moving down to FL around this time...
then again there are 2 weddings in July aswell that my mother wants me to go to... so I am *thinking* about moving down sometime in early Augest instead of mid July...
I really want to go to this meet though... I won't be able to make next years meet with school and all.... so if I can make the first 3 in a row, that would be great :)
I gotta see... atleast I have the dates now... :)

I have a question. What about the Top 10 things from Albany shirts?
Night Wolf
01-03-2005, 10:44 PM
What would we be doing Thursday night after LVD?
I will arrive Wednesday, just like everyone... but I would like to take the '79, as I havn't raced it yet... and by then it'll be built up nice... plus I have been to the track witht he '93 twice... and it is pretty much the same as it was then....
but I was thinking about heading back home Thurs. night, then switching cars and taking the '93 up... Thurs night... that way for the show & shine, resort and other stuff, I can have the '93 there... it is more easily liveable, has my nice sound system and other stuff... plus, if it is hot out... the AC works on it... plus, the '93 dosn;t have nearly the visual blemishes as the '79 and is a better car to have at a show...
I just don't want to miss out on much... it is about 90mins each way, so the trip isn't too bad...
Although, it is a good time away... I have about 3 weeks after school to prepare the car... maybe I'll do more things to touch it up, get the AC going and stuff... and I may decide to keep it there the whole time :)
I know I will not be able to make the '06 meet.... and the '07 meet is questionable as I will have just finished tech school, and I will be starting a new job... well... carrear... but... one thing at a time... I'll be at the '05 meet :)

where are we staying while were up there? I was under the impression that we were going to stay up at BRAD's (http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36144) house but that quickly changed. Do we have to fend for ourselves with this one or do we have a hotel/motel/shack in mind?

Cost for the event is still being worked out. In previous years it was free, but due to growth and possible track rental, that may not be feasible this year. We'll post that info ASAP.

Mel you ready to get launched off my hood again?

no, she goes the same 2 weeks every july. i'm not gonna make her change her annual family gathering so i can take off 3 days for a car meet. i need my job too much. she has 16 years seniority over my 9 months (and counting) right now. *shrug* that's why i voted for august :(

DJ i saw it..
its not that it snuck up on you, its that it was so ninja it was behind you and above you..
rules..
1 a good ninja always knows his surroundings (applies with DJ, knew the car was comming)
2 a good ninja always attacks from above (not quite, but he did attack the bottom pretty well.)
after all that, it was a ninja trash can, and had the camo skills of a marine sniper in a gilly suit.
also, the whole purpose of the track is so that its not ford day DJ!!!!!
i think the stang has to die.
just kidding,

Best thing to do is search for Auto Transport in the yellow pages or online. I have never sent a car but i a friend did and i think he said it was so many cents per mile of driving.

Not sure if it was mentioned already......
but are these events final?
July 13th - 17th, 2005.
Wednesday 13th - Arrival, Greetings, Local Cruising.
Thursday 14th - Thatcher Park, Show & Shine.
Friday 15th - Explore Albany, check out what there is to see.
Saturday 16th - Lebanon Valley Dragway.
Sunday 17th - Departure and fairwells.
The 2 biggest things are Thatcher Park and Lebanon.... would it be possible to move these together? maybe switch the park and exploring Albany?
It's just that some things came up, and I will not be able to spend all 5 days here... but the park and the race would be the things to see.... as it is now I will only be able to stay about 2 nights.
Is anyone else in a similar situation? where they can't stay for the whole thing? I think that is it was the park on Friday, the races on Saturday, then leave on Sunday that would be better, as it gives people that will be at the meet for the whole 5 days some time in the begining to relax, but also allows people that can only make the 2nd part of it still be there for the park and the races...
Also are we renting the track? I remember it being mentioned they only rent durring the week, if this is on a Saturday then I take it we are not?
Just trying to plan out my summer.... as there is ALOT going on this month of July for me :)

Yes they are.
At the park the weekend (Friday - Sunday) dates are raffled off back in January to people who submit their entries with payment in December. This park is popular for graduation parties and such so they do it this way to be fair.
But because of all the issues we had with the track this year we didnt set the schedule for the park in stone.

OK I am starting to think that the plan for this meet kinda sucks. Since we aren't getting the track to ourselves, Is there really a need to have the meet this long? I dont know about everyone else but I am pretty sure I will be bored to death on friday doing NOTHING.
I dont know if there is anything that can be changed at this point but I kinda think we need to push the "explore Albany" day out and push it up a bit.
Meet friday, track saturday, show and shine/head home sunday.

Pucci, the reason we had to draw out the meet is because there werent any Friday - Sunday dates avab for the park for the summer. Yes there is an amusement park - Six Flags Great Escape - 45 minutes from Albany. We are putting together a list of things to do around Albany. :) You won't be bored, I promise :D

19.15 for groups of 15 or more, that is purchased 2 weeks in advance.
21.15 if purchased day of at park with group of 15 or more, and for every 15 people, one free ticket.
this is all ClubECM and GAOC's call, but i think its a good idea, unless you guys have something else planned.
