93 grand am wont stay running

I recently bought a 93 grand am 4 cyl 2.3l dohc quad 4. the car startsa and idles great but when I tkae it out of park it cuts out. any help would be great.

you might want to try changing the fuel filter to start and see if that fixes it because what might be happening is when in park it needs little fuel to run but when put into gear its demanding more fuel and if the fuel filter is dirty it cant get enough fuel to the engine to keep it running
