Rear view rattle...any fixes?

I put in my Kicker L7 and a Sony amp a few weeks ago and it sound awesome, even off of my factory Monsoon. Besides a few exterior rattles that I can deal with, my rear view mirror seems to rattle pretty bad. My car has a moonroof so it has the thick rear view with the map lights in it. I would expect it to vibrate and blur my vision, but it sounds like a soup can full of gravel when the bass hits. If I hold onto it, it doesn't rattle. Any ideas how to make this quiet? Its the only interior rattle I have and it drives me nuts if I have the volume up. Help!!

look and see if theres a bolt or screw holding it to the piece attatched to the windshield,i dunno how the 99+models are but if the mirrors are even similar then you should be able to tighten it with the star type screw driver,i forget the name of the type of bolt but it looks like a star and then tighten it as much as you can it should sounds better,but you'll have to tighten it every so often or just when it rattles more,hope that helped you out.

my rearview mirror doesn't rallte but it doesn't stay up if i turn the bass on

yea.. well i got a 99 ga and you have to tighly screw in that screw.. i had the same problem when i first got my stereo in.. my rearview would rattle then id try looking through it and it would tilt downwards completely so all i saw was the rear seat.. and i found that tightening that screw helped solve that problem..

I haven't actually done it on mine but I think it should work. My car audio guy told me to do it on the liecense plate to stop rattle so it shoudl work i think.

Well in my car the mirror is held on by a screw or bolt of some kind, take the mirror off and buy some of the foam strips that have the tape on one side. stick that around the edges of the base of the mirror that connects to the windshield then just bolt it back to the windshield.
In theory it will work to me. I am going to try it asap and will post what I find out.

i dont think the rearview mirror is bolted to the windshield son ;)
its either held on by glue or double sided tape, but not a bolt.

all in all.. just tighten the screw.. or else you rear view goes flying off when your driving like mine

actually in most vehicles the mirror has a screw which is screwed against a piece of metal which is glued to the windshield to keep it from coming off easily

thats true matts. As for the rear view mirror.. you might also notice it vibrates and points downward alot more in the warmer months.. I know I have this problem on any day above about 70 F

There is basically no fix for it once you hit a certain amount of dB's one of my buddies took the time to tear apart the whole mirror and he hot glued the mirror part to the housing on the inside. it stopped all his rattles but it still goes down.

when i had 4 15"s my rear view raised up to the roof

yeah. i used to have a oldsmobile with 2-15s in the trunk. not only did i have a problem with the rearview mirror i also had a major problem with the outside mirrors heading south. i dont have that big of a problem with it now in either one of my cars. they just rattle a whole bunch, but they stay one spot

hehe you get the outside mirrors vibrating too? sheesh i though i was the only one.. thankfully i can still see out of them but it does makes things seem unclear

I think it's funny when your driving at night and you look out the rear view and all you see are circles of red all over the place!!!!!! Reminds me of the good old days......LOL.
